Anyone else homer proud of Big 12 football?

I know its all preseason hype and only the playing field will ultimately decide the true mettle of Big 12 football, but just watching what the Big 12 did last year (and hooray for the North in waking from their slumber) and where many pundits are tabbing Big 12 teams in early polls, I can't help but be proud of what the the Big 12 is becoming.

While I love my Horns and want them to win always, sure is nice to see some other respect being shown to our cousins and someone other than OU is representing our great football conference (that is when UT isn't getting in their way).

Three conference losses may be a distinct possbility this year, and then again, we may surprise - but either way, I have high hopes that 4-5 of us can finish in the top 20 in the polls after the dust has settled.

Oh, and F the Pac-10 and SEC and all the Big-12 haters!!

EDIT: "g" is waaaay to close to "h" on the keyboard. Title changed to a more respectable "homer" from the aggy "gomer"

I can pretty much agree there will be 4 0r 5 in the top 25 if not top 20 out our great confernce,Now that the North is representin'.Enjoy the ride it's going to be a great year for Big 12 Football!!

The SWC doesn't exist anymore, and I don't really remember it, but I feel more loyalty to it than to the Big XII.

The Big XII is alright, though. I like to think of the Big XII as the first "superconference" in college football because it was the first conference to be created by fusing two conferences together.

For me Big XII pride only comes as a reaction when other conference's success is brought up. I just don't feel a connection to Iowa State or Colorado.

If it's lackluster for us, just imagine how it is for those mid-major conferences that change teams every three or four years. The SWC may have not been viable, but at least when you say you won the people you won a conference championship, it's unfortunate to have to cite which conference you're talking about.

So GOO, your view is its UT against the world? To each his own opinion.

Considering the way the BCS is structured and fees are distributed, I care a great deal about how the conference does. It matters to our bottom line.

And the quality of competition very much influences our hopes for a national championship.

Poo-poo on it all you want, but its here to stay and it only helps us.

I love the Big XII in so far as it floats the Longhorn boat ever higher.

Thus, my pride in the conference is only as it relates to my pride in being a double-degreed Fightin' Texas Fightin' Longhorn.

I am one of those who generally cheer for the conference, except when watching OU or A&M. Big 12 is often given less coverage than SEC and Big 10 but is a conference that has put teams in the MNC game what 4 times since 00...and won 2 of them.

I think the Big 12 is set to have a few really good years ahead. The QB's are starting to gain experience and that will translate to wins. Daniel at Mizz is a senior, McCoy at UT is a junior, McGee at A&M is a senior, Harrell at Tech is a senior, Robinson at OSU is a junior, Freeman at K-state is a junior, Reesing at Kansas is a junior, Hawkins at CO will be a soph, Bradford at OU will be a soph, Szymanski at Baylor will be a junior.

Many teams with returning QB's and some of those will be back in 09 and 10 as well.

I'm a conference homer, but have some limitations.

In general I like it when several B12 teams make it to bowls, are ranked, etc. I also like to see several B12 teams make the basketball tourney, baseball tourney, etc. If I have no other routing interest in a contest I will default to the B12 team. For example, I like it when lowly ISU beat Iowa a few times a couple of years ago.

However, I can still enjoy any OU or aTm loss.

Iowa State beat Iowa last year too, right?

OOC, I root for the Big 12. It is pleasant to me to see Tech do well because they are my second favorite team. I like OU to do well too so if we beat them in the RRS, we look better. Aggy misery is constant, so I love to see them do good but lose in a a choking manner. The north teams all get my love.

Come conference time, I want OU to lose as much as possible, aggy to lose as much as possible, and Tech to help us in these endeavors, especially against aggy. They are only like 3 wins away from tying the all time series, which makes me giggle and snort.

Bowl games, I want everyone to win by OU and aggy.

Apart from A. & M. and Oklahoma, I don't give a damn about the Big XII. Why should I care about what happens above Oklahoma, whose team is composed of many Texans?

I hated to see the Southwest Conference, which I'd watched since 1956, be dissolved. I miss the rivalries with TCU, SMU and Rice (I know, I know, we stil play the Owls but it's not the same).

Where is Iowa State? What city? Who cares?

I am ready for some football. Basketball and baseball are fun, but there ain't nuthin' like college football on a Saturday!!! Go Horns Go!!!

I really only care about UT. If we don't win our conference championship, then I will also support whoever does and hope they represent the conference well in the post season.
