Since Saturday, all feeds are being shown in 4:3 format but stretched to fit wide screen. HD feeds are, in effect, no longer true wide screen. Anyone else been have this problem?
But I do hate the **** out of my TW HD DVR Box. I have the 8000 series box and it really really sucks. At first I thought it sucked just in comparison to Tivo, which it does, but it just sucks period. Anyone else have these problems:
Set it to record something and it simply refuses to record it?
Something you've had set to record suddenly disappears from your scheduled recordings list?
I don't think we've EVER had HBO HD working correctly, sometimes it won't even come on at all.
I hate this box, hate hate hate. Can I just go take it back for another one of equally ****** quality?
JonnyM - you can change out your box every day by taking it the local TW office if you want. They don't care.
Personally - I think they just recycle the ones that don't work, rather than actually repair them. Call the different offices to see if they have any 8300's in stock and then haul *** down there.
Yes, TW HDTV sucks. If I am watching regular channels it will turn them into black and white, but if I go regular cable instead of hd I don't get info. Plus there should be more selection in HD.
I have had someone out to fix the black and white problem but it just came back. How much more a month does the DVR cost? and also I hate having to pay $3.00 extra dollars for espn.
Well I actually did have an 8300 already. I guess I was hoping my box was the "old crappy one" and I could get a "new shiny good one". I returned it anyway, so we'll see tonight/this week if this "new" one is going to work or not.
I checked my box last night, and it's the 8000. I've been too lazy yet to call TW, but I plan to do so before the baseball game on Saturday. I'll provide an update after I get this resolved for those who are curious.
I now have my first problem with them since they came out, that the unplugging, letting sit, then plug back in and reboot doesn't fix. The program guide has slowed down and now I get this little box from the program guide that stays black in the top right corner even after I take the guide off the screen (sometimes).
On another note, if you have a dvr, check out The link on stuff I found the other day.
Ah yes that button messed me up at first I believe.
Well my new box is recording better, but I'm still having a hard time with many HD stations.
HBOHD almost never works. Usually i'll watch a minute or two and then it'll just go to black. Happened tonight on TNTHD as I was watching Days of Thunder...which really pissed me off.
I would get tw to come out and check your lines. I had the same problem when I first got my HD. Found out it was a small signal leak that was only causing problems with a few digital channels and the HD channels. I never knew there was a problem because I never watched the digital channels that were having the problem. The changed the connection on the telephone pole and I have not had a problem since.
They will not charge you for a service call. I just went through the same thing with the HD channels and ESPN/ESPN2 on the digital tier macroblocking. It took a month of them coming out 6 times (finally replacing the major cable line between poles) to fix it but I ended up with a couple of months credit out of the deal.
