yep, i got it right as it went live. the googlemaps triangulation is pretty good. the circle was a 5 block area or so and it was centered right on my house. pretty cool. the moveable widgets are nice too.

-now google maps knows where you are, and you can add and move pinpoints
-now you can send multiple people the same text at the same time and store the mailing lists
-now you can re-arrange the home screen and have shortcuts on the home screen as well

my update stalled at "Updating IPhone's Firmware".

i got impatient and disconnected it. now I am restoring, since the phone is stuck in mid-update. now, it has been on "Restoring iPhone's Firmware" for 15 minute.

wtf do i do now?

What you don't do is unplug it again. I managed to brick a Blackberry through impatience.

Tomorrow morning there will probably be similar threads on the mac forums - I would check there or bring it to an Apple store. Good luck.

Got the update, and like it. Sure flash, slingbox, etc. would be nice. But I still like this iPhone better than any else I have used before. They'll continue to update and bring things along ...

Ever since I updated, gmail is replacing ALL of my old emails that are on the server back in my iphone inbox. I dont really feel like deleting all 400+ messages one by one and I dont want to delete them all from my gmail inbox. I have marked all as read and I dont understand. I even just tried the imap thing and it is still the same. Anyone know how to fix this?

Reinstalled as a pop account and not imap and it seems to have fixed it. Is that the right way?

There is no rational reason why the iphone still lacks multimedia text capabilities. My samsung phone on cingular could do that 4 years ago. Is ATT worried about clogging up their network if they unleash iphone users' picture capabilities?

I doubt it is AT&T who is holding apple back...whoever it is holding the iphone back also needs to make it 3G capable to increase to the maximum potential
