the disclaimer is because he stayed in a ballah suite, with bentley service to the hotel. i know what he thought, but looking for other info/advice.

i know about ALL of the restaurants, since i've read every menu online. Any favorites though. they all look kick ***, and I've eaten at corsa cucina twice (greatness).

what are the tables like? Just got into craps and wondering what the minumum bets and odds are. also any "insider secrets"?

*I could give two shits about hitting up Tryst with the wife. i'd rather play craps and get loaded all night.

also, pretty good rates now there. The seminar I'm going to is at ceasar's. they want $200/night. the wynn was only $319/night Venetian, with no promotions (which i'll be hearing about soon) was $429. If I keep my reservation there, I may switch my regual hotel from Venetian to the wynn. venetian treats me very well, when it comes to rates/upgrade fees. overall though, their comp policy is really ******* tight, and everyone knows it.

I've stayed there a few times and really liked it. Out of all the "luxury" hotels I prefer it to Bellagio, Venetian, theHOTEL etc. The rooms are great, and their beds are especially popular.

The only reason I haven't stayed there recently is because their comps have also gotten pretty tight, and thus I have moved my play over to the MGM and the Mansion.

As for limits I know they are known for having higher than average limits even compared to B, V, etc. For example their Baccarat limits (which I play) apparently never dip below $3-500 wheras you can usually find $100 min games everywhere else. I've heard you probably can't find a craps game under $25 either, and I assume the odds are like everywhere else (3-4-5)

As for food I really like Okada, especially eating at the tables where they cook the food in front of you. If you're a real ballah I'd suggest the Kobe Beef.

But, like I said, if you're o.k. with the limits, I'd suggest checking it out. It is a nice hotel and casino, one of my favorites. Everytime I go I consider staying there once again, I just haven't played there in a while, and thus get much better offers elsewhere.

so, can i get a decent craps session at a $25 table with my bankroll? i have no idea how to guage craps. i always started blackjack with 20 "units". crps, i don't know how to guage. it seems

Edit: i'm going into manor downs territory. i'll have to piost a lot of this there.

depends on what you play but at a $25 craps table i'd want to have at LEAST $500 a session, and probably more like $750-1000. per session. meaning for a 3-day trip I'd probably want a bankroll of $3000-5000 if I was going to play $25 craps the whole time.

if you're just playing a single bet and even just 2x odds, that's $75 per come-out, 15% of your stack if you're taking 20 units. that's way too much for a single shot.

thinking more about it, i can't imagine a worse idea than $25 craps unless you absolutely have money to burn. and if you're already paying out of pocket for your room, you're not in that category.

depending on what exactly you want out of your trip to vegas, i would encourage you to consider the GVR and Red Rock. they give mid-range players a lot better deals/comps than the strip places. if you want to be on the strip, then it's not an option, but if you want nice rooms, a nice casino, good food (not the best in LV, but pretty damn good), and nice pools, they are very good properties. but again, it just depends what you're looking for.

We stayed at Wynn's for the second time two weeks ago @ $119/night (weeknights) with $100 free slot play. It was a snailmail promotion.

The SW Steakhouse and the Country Club Grill are our favorite restaurants there.

Wynn's rooms are a lot more comfortable than THEHotel's suites.

JohhnyM:

I get free week nights at Venetian, and $79 suites there, etc. I can't stay off strip, since my seminar is at ceasar's.

I am paying full rate right now, because I always book early and then call in for/about promotions/player's club discounts for me. Those aren't released this early.

So, do you think $1000/session is sufficient? WHat I was referring to before, with the "20 units" was that when I play blackjack, I always play $50/hand, with a $1000 bankroll, for a "normal session".

I know "units" are harder to guage with craps, since I want to place come bets, etc. My question was simply how big a bankroll I need for $25 craps, if I want to play max odds on the line bet, and 2 come bets out. It would seem like $1000 wouldn't get close to being enough. a "normal roll would have about $175 on the table, correct? Back in the 15% of bankroll area, if that # is right.

****, I hate math. jsut tell me how much money I'll need, and that's what I'll take with me, apart from shopping $.

Well the Wynn offers 3,4,5x odds like most strip properties, but I'm going to just assume you'll play 2x odds initially.

At 2x odds, your spread is $225 if you play the pass, 2 comes, and odds. Most craps pros would suggest you bring at least 10-12x this amount to have a comfortable session. That's $2250-2700 for a session. If you really wanted to play craps only on such a trip, you should have at least $10k with you.

If you really were going to take full odds, you're probably going to need $4-$5k per session. Your full outlay under such a scenario would never be less than $325 and possibly as much as $425.

we're similar blackjack players and i still cannot even fathom a scenario where i would consider playing a $25 craps table. you could have 1-2 sessions worth of blackjack money wiped out literally within minutes.

if you just got into craps and all they have to offer is a $25 game, i'd sit it out. however, i imagine with some patience you can get a spot at a lower limit table. with 2x odds, you'll need about $1000-1200 at a $10 table even, and $1500-1800 at a $15 table.

if you're just dead-set on playing and all they have available is $25, then think about a different way to play. maybe place the 6/8 each time for $30 and press those as they hit. it's not as exciting (unless of course someone hits 10 8s), but you won't lose your money as quickly. i love the three-point molly strategy, don't get me wrong, but you can bust out so quickly even with a full bankroll.

whatever you do, don't take the full odds unless you have the bankroll to afford it. while it is the "best bet" in the house, you can't bet anything if you're broke.

Maybe you should consider playing the numbers with craps. If you're deadset on playing craps this might be a much cheaper/safer option, and you'll get better comps. Most casinos don't rate odds bets anymore, so if you were to have a passline bet + 2 come out rolls, you'd have like $375 out there but only be rated at $75 per roll. Whereas if you put $25 out on the pass with full odds (I hate people who just play 2x odds) and then place two numbers (like $60 on 6 & 8) you'd have a lot less money risked, but you'd be rated higher ($145 per roll), and you're working numbers would be what you wanted as opposed to someone who hits 4,5,10, then craps out.

Interesting, but there's a reason why the high rollers are given the red carpet treatment at the upscale establishments, and it's not because the casinos enjoy giving them their money.

there is so much math on this thread, I'm getting tiredhead.

I might be going to Vegas for the first time since 2004, so I might consider the Wynn. We shall see. But I'm not looking to get comped and all that ****. I don't bet enough.

The Wynn is a great choice, since their rtes are so much more competative before.

we may not ever leve for dining/entertainment, since La Reve is there and there are definitely 3 outstanding dinners available from all of those choices.

* the only thing lacking is the shopping, so we may have to spend a day at the Forum Shops and Fashion Show Mall.

I was being sarcastic too. As anybody should know, we all eventually pay for the free rooms and the red carpet treatment one way or the other. Otherwise, Vegas would still just be a dried up whistle stop.

I ain't got nuthin' against high rollers.
