Anybody seen the new MI: Ghost Protocol?

I saw it. Very fun popcorn flick.

Tom Cruise does good movies. If I had to reach into a bag of Tom Cruise movies, vs Tom Hanks, vs Russell Crowe...I wouldn't be disappointed with the stuff out of the Cruise bag.

All the Right Moves, Risky Business, Top Gun, A Few Good Men, The Outsiders, Magnolia, Mission Impossible, Topic Thunder, Minority Report, Collateral, War of the Worlds, Jerry Maguire, Color of Money, Born of the Forth of July...

Those are all either really quality movies or solid popcorn flicks.

I saw it earlier this week.

The Link

It's certainly entertaining and I enjoyed it, but I'm just not much of a fan of this particular movie series or of Tom Cruise.

Those who do look forward the MI movies will appreciate this one; I've only seen two of them. myself.

I liked the old MI TV series back in the day because after every episode started out with a seemingly "impossible" mission they then showed you exactly how, though improbably and always just barely, the mission was indeed "possible."

The movie series mostly follows that same formula, but Cruise just doesn't do much for me.

In addition, this last one, "Ghost Protocol," didn't have much sexual tension or any women who were attractive enough, physically or intellectually, to really interest me.

The storyline and action sequences, while definitely more than serviceable and very acceptable for this genre, are firmly in the James Bond movie niche which has already been quite nicely filled for me, thank you.

I simply prefer Daniel Craig over Tom Cruise.

I just saw a TV flick, "John Sandford's Certain Prey" featuring Mark Harmon in an edgier role than he usually plays.

Edgy is good.

The Link

I actually dug this low budget USA TV movie more than "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol."

It's a fast moving, sufficiently raunchy, detective/mystery/thriller potboiler set in Minneapolis that held my attention tighter than did the flashy, high tech, globe-trotting, largely asexual, impossible mission flick.

Opinions will always vary, but I thought it was better than I had expected while tor me the MI movie wasn't anything special.

Moviegoing fans into Tom Cruise as IMF Agent Ethan Hunt will doubtless be very pleased with his latest installment.

I personally just didn't care enough (either way) about "MI: Ghost Protocol" to review it until now.

So, I saw it, I appreciated the cool action stuff, I went home, I turned on the TV and I saw something I liked better.

I'll also rate the Daniel Craig take on "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" higher than Cruise's latest MI flick, even though I couldn't always hear the dialog in David Fincher's American version of that dark Swedish story, but that's another review.

If others really enjoy Tom Cruise and MI that's cool with me and I have no argument about it.

JMO.
