Anybody own a Vizio TV?

I am thinking about getting a 32" Visio plasma to put in my daughters room. They are a little over $500 at Walmart. Im not looking for anything fancy, just a basic TV that has decent bang for the buck.

I do and wouldn't buy another one without also factoring the extended warranty into the price. Broke twice in first 2.5 yrs.

Stay away from Sony too!!! They break down twice in two years as well. At least the one did that a friend had.

Including Hornian I know 4 people that have the same Vizio tv, all bought at Costco, or was it Sam's Club? Not one of them have any problems with it and will buy another in the future. There are always lemons for any product and it sucks for the person or persons who get them. But from all I have heard, Vizio is pretty danged solid.

The warranty is not a bad idea for any item in that price point and above.

Since your looking for a basic display, Vizio should be fine. If she throws a curling iron through it, no worries. I wouldn't buy a Vizio for my main tv or movie viewing pleasure though.

I purchased the same 32 you are looking at for my bedroom. Got it at costco for $469+tax. Not a single problem. I have a Panasonic 52 that gets most of the work, but this Vizio does a good job for a great price

My son has a 32" 720 for a little over 2 yrs now with no problems. We bought a 47" 1080 about 4 months ago and love it. Hard to beat in terms of quality of picture for the $.

I just bought a 22" today for $350 at Costco that I'm using as a computer monitor in my office. So far so good.

I'd consider buying a Vizio in 2-5 years, but not now. They've gobbled up market share--going from nobody to the top 3--in a short period by aggressive cost control.

Right now the internal components in their sets are low-mid quality & which matches their price point & performance. Pioneer may be manufacturing the best PDPs but (almost) nobody is going to pay a $1,500 - $2,000 premium anymore.

A few years from now Vizio will have enough market dominance & brand recognition to be able to set a higher price point & install higher quality hardware in their TVs. My guess is they'll differentiate their entry level sets (Vizio) w/ a simple, flashy marketing change like Vizio EX or Vizio Ultra.

Thanks for all of the great replies. I stumbled upon a different TV. I got a 25.5 inch Samsung 1080p LCD at Sams for $489. It is really a monitor with a HD tuner in it. I thought that it was a pretty good deal considering that I got a 1080p set for that price. I hooked it up today and it looks really good. Here is a link in case anyone is interested.

The friend with Sony problems stuck with Sony as they are good sets too, just like Vizio. All companies make lemons. Cars, appliances, humanity. All can have lemons.

I heard of a police department that had to replace all of it's Glock service pistols with another model Glock, as the first issue had major problems (they wouldn't go "bang").

As he said, everybody will have lemons now & then.

A friend of mine had a bad experience with a Vizio. It started making an awful racket, shrieking like banshee until he unplugged it. He tried again and it started screaming again. It was literally a deafening screech. He and his wife had to cover their ears, and their pets were into hiding and stayed there for hours.

He took it back and got a different brand. He's been happy with new one

Based on the ratings I've seen, Vizio is the best value LCD TV on the market. It's not the best quality but enough quality for the price that you can't beat it.

I own the 32" Vizio LCD .... I LOVE IT!! Paid about $450 for it @ Wal-Mart. Highly recommend it .... no problems since purchase .... great HD picture (I use an HDMI cable) ....
