I'm thinking of getting one. Is the Napster deal more a pro or con? I've read that once you let your subscription to Napster run out, all your downloads are gone.

So if anybody out there has one, I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.

I have a Dell DJ, but I don't use the Napster deal in any way. Maybe I am missing out, hell I'm not even sure what that is.
It's a lot heavier than the iPod, but it works very well for me in what limited ways I use. Pretty much I just have a need for some songs while I am working out, or on slow days at the office I can plug it into my pc.

I need to look into the option of getting it wired to my car stereo, because those FM tuner thingies are crap.

I bought a 40GB DJ off somebody on Swap Meet last month. I couldn't be happier with it. I really only use it for my car so the fact that it's a little bulkier was an easy tradeoff to get a larger hard drive at a cheaper price.

I don't know what the Napster deal is so I couldn't tell you but I can't imagine how they would be able to erase your downloads once the file is on your hard drive.

I've had my DJ for 2 years and have had no problems with it. I would imagine the newer versions are even better.

I have two of them and they're both great. The ipod is better in some ways, but now that you can put music directly on it without musicmatch, there is about 0 reason to buy the ipod over the DJ if cost is even a 1% factor.

also... I try and support Dell as much as I can. I'm no longer an employee but wouldn't hesitate to take a job for them if they had one in Houston. Great company, great management, probably a top ten run company in the US

the Napster deal isn't really a deal. as they day "do the math" then think about it logically and critically. i like to think of it as Leasing vs. Buying

I've got the iRiver H320. It's on the pricey end, but it supports OGG, linux and has a FM tuner as well as recording capabilities. There is also a firmware update that allows it to play video files, but that disables support for Napster and other DRM-enabled services.

Bought one for my boyfriend last year for his birthday. He selected a DJ over an Ipod and others after doing research. He loves it and I do too- I keep trying to talk myself into buying one of my own.

Anything that allows you to organize and carry your music around like that is very cool. Ipod is more expensive (getting cheaper bc of Dell) and you get things like being "hip" if that is worth the extra money. I have had some people say they like my Dell better than the Ipod. Personally I got it bc the 20GB Ipod was $399 and Dell DJ 20GB was $225 and Apple rapes you on accessories. (roughly $30/each compared to $10/each) At least this is what it was about a year ago or so.
