I'm thinking that after all the lies and corruptions and failed policies and the divisiveness that there isn't many left that still supports or believes in him as a leader. I expect Roger 35. But I'd be very surprised if people like Mich and a few others that seem to have a little sense are still in his corner. If you do still believe in what he's doing please feel friend to tell us how his jock strap smell and explain to us all what he's done that's actually helped our country. Name all the other countries that our reloationship has gotten better with. Explain without the talking points and leaving out a lot of detail that combats your argument how much the economy is better now. And why it is good that we went from $10 trillion in debt with the first 43 presidents and that the 44th President will spend over $9 Trillion by himself is a good thing.

I expect crickets from the BHO believers but we will see.

Obama will be the biggest con man this country has ever seen.

I'm as big as an Obama critic as they come. I can't stand his policies because his policies are dumb. Most of all I have no respect for a divisive bully...which he has been.

But I35, if we want to really turn around the mess, we can't focus on this clown. My biggest encouraging takeaways were Tim Scott, Mia Love, Joni Ernst, and the Detroit commercial. Conservative ideas around liberty, accountability, and self-respect gained traction with women and minorities. We need to keep building on that and not divisive finger pointing (caveat with I have no problem correcting a lie someone else started).

I have many issues with Obama but this thread is too partisan to join the bashfest. It's the inconsistencies that are grating, specifically the "fiscal conservatives" that only show up when a Democrat is POTUS.

Sadly, I fear that you haven't seen the worst of this President yet.

I fear that since both houses of Congress are now controlled by the "enemy", his admin is going to circle the wagons and set off a Constitutional crisis. I believe he will try to run the country by Executive Order and by pass Congress all together.

He's already foreshadowed his intentions with his recent proclamations on immigration and net neutrality.

I am a default democrat but chose to cast a blank ballot for president the last two elections because of my reservations about the man, whom I refer to as the Pied Piper.

That said, he has been a better president than I anticipated and much better than his two predecessors.

He did not get us into any new wars, which is a big deal to me, since so many of my friends died in Viet Nam and the neo cons have been howling for more military interventions since day one.

He inherited a disastrous economic situation and has slowly worked through it by massive deficit spending to stimulate aggregate demand, as any good Keynesian would.

He is thoughtful and listens, according to Gates and Panetta. His big fault in their eyes is his unwillingness to get into the greasy mess of legislative politics and his unwillingness to fight.

He left the heavy lifting on national health care to Pelosi, who Obamacare should rightly be named after.

I still would not vote for him but he has been much better than I had expected.

Most of the criticism of him has been ill informed, hateful and just plain stupid.

For example, without the massive deficit spending we would have sunk into a deflationary spiral that would have cost milliions of jobs and scores of thousands of bankruptcies. Economically ideological righties seem to think that everything would have been hunky dory had we just waded through the swamps and taken our chances with the alligators.

Idiots

If the trillions in borrowed money staved off a global depression ----- as the editors of The Economist believe they did ----- was it not money well borrowed? My 401k, my stock portfolio, and my bank account sure seem to think so. And Texas, as a state, has flourished economically since Obama became President. I was out in my hometown of Pecos last weekend and I could not believe the difference in just a few years. It's booming whereas it was once a bombed out Beirut of a place.

As A.J.P. Taylor said (paraphrasing), "the problem with history is that we only know what happened. We don't know what would have happened had another path been chosen." I'll add to Taylor's observation that we don't even really know what happened. We only know what we think happened, based on our perception of what happened.

Also, you've got to select between the alternatives. The Republican alternative was John McCain and Sarah Palin. Somebody counted the number of foreign countries McCain has advocated military intervention in since 1996 and the number is 16. SIXTEEN.

So while Obama may have been a disaster, McCain may very well have been worse. We'd still have the entitlements that we have now because the democrats would not have budged on those, but we'd be borrowing even more money to spend on wars in Syria, Iran, Crimea etc...

My "own guy?" I never voted for him and said I would not do so now. I guess refusing to engage in the six year hate makes him my guy?

You have some problems with reading comprehension.

For years I voted for lesser evils. I don't do that anymore. I think he has done better than Mad Bomber McCain and his Stepford Vice Presidential candidate would have done.

Romney is a lot more politically dishonest than Obama. I have little use for Obama but think him less disastrous than W.

And in the laundry list of people he is worse than, you left out Ronald Reagan. You know, the guy who sent Marines into Lebanon for no reason and got over 200 of them blown up, withdrew them promptly (encouraging Osama bin Laden) and invaded Grenada to protect students who were not in any danger.

The Reagan who violated his own arms embargo to try to buy hostages from the Iranians and used the profits to violate a law he signed forbidding aid to the contras and then sent members of his team to capitol hill to lie under oath about it. When he was place under oath about it he said he did not remember.

Obama is worse than him. Or less successful anyway.

"That said, he has been a better president than I anticipated and much better than his two predecessors."

Wow. Is he better than Reagan and Carter too?

I didn't think much of either of those two, who were both in over their heads. In fact, the last good president we had who wasn't cursed by a fatal flaw of character (thinking LBJ and Nixon here) was Eisenhower.

That I think Obama better than I expected is not praise. I expected something just a little bit better than that chimp W.

Obama has met the expectations I had for him. I expected him to be a total disaster, and he has done just that.

Something to reflect upon....

Whatever we now see in Obama, isn't that a reflection of who we are?

Better than clinton or bush surely you kid. Reagan was a good president, you had to live through Carter to understand what he did for the country. Obama might still do something if he will just reach out and not act so almighty

I did live through Carter; Reagan was a great speaker who spoke in stirring bromides that uplifted the neo cons and got a lot of marines blown up in Lebanon. The defining moment in his Wizard of Oz presidency for me was when our brave allies, the Salvadoran military death squads (the death panels of their day) raped and murdered some American Maryknoll nuns and buried them in a dirt grave, Reagan's Secretary of State General Haig, opined that the freedom fighting Salvadoran troops may have been returning the Maryknoll's fire.

He was not fired immediately. Later we got the Iran Contra illegality and Jimmy Carter talked the leader of the Nicaraguan commies into accepting the results of the election in which Violeta CHammora defeated them.

Reagan was a great talker. His words at Bitburg were inspiring.

"BI, cool to hear you are from Pecos. I am from 40 miles East on I20, so I am familiar."

Damn, I am from Pecos too. Just out there a couple weeks ago.
