Anybody else being overrun with ants this week?

I can't decide if it's just the rain or something worse. The change of seasons coupled with heavy rains usually brings a few into the house but this time they seem to be partcularly heavy. Anybody else having this problem?

Anybody have a good suggestion on getting rid of them? I've sprayed around the baseboards and gotten a bunch but fresh ones keep coming in. As soon as it dries up enough I'm gonna spray the yard and the outside of the house again. That's done the trick in the past but I'd love to hear other ideas.

I'm in NW Austin, btw.

Isn't boric acid a non-toxic to animals way to get rid of them?

The rain is going to drive everything up to the surface and into any dry space. My dog has been especially curious and "sniffy" in the garage the last couple of days. i am hoping that is not indicative os some mouse or rat taking refuge in there.

Boric acid mixed with mint jelly. Look for the ratios on the internet.

The boric acid will be fed to the entire colony including the queen and over time will kill them all. Conventional poisons kill the workers immeditely and, thus, the queen survives to build another empire.

We're in Cedar Park and fight ants year round after it rains. We get regular pest control, which helps, but our new "miracle" is Terro Ant Killer Liquid Ant Baits. They come in an orange box and I think we got them at Lowe's. They are boric acid in a sticky sugar solution, so it attracts ants and kills them slowly while they take all that yummy boric acid back to the nest and bring back all their buddies to feast. It's really fascinating to watch the whole process over the course of 24 hours. They come on to it like crack, chow down, bring friends, start staggering around drunk, bring more buddies, roll over and die. I cleared up a nasty ant trail in our upstairs bathroom in exactly 1 day. Try it out and hope it works.
