Any San Fran. Horns looking for a roommate?

Or know of someone looking for a roommate? I'm moving out there within the next couple of weeks and am getting desperate trying to find a place. 1 bedroom apt's are ridiculously expensive and craigslist hasn't been much help.

I know there are a lot of Texas Exes in San Francisco around my age (25) so I thought I'd give hornfans a try. If anyone knows of somebody looking for a guy to fill a room please pm me.

Thanks.

don't have any room, but are you looking for your own place or to have roommates. i am living in a place i found on craigslist and have two roommates that i didn't know before i moved in. its working out real well. i had two random roommates in NYC before this and that worked well too (one was a longhorn, completely random).

i did a quick search on craigslist in the marina (figured that would be most desirable being 25) and it brought up a whole bunch that seemed all right sub $1000.

where are you looking to live and how much to spend?

I'd like to live in either the marina, pac heights, russian hill, or maybe nob hill. If I could keep the rent under $1000 i'd be happy. i don't have any problem living with random roommates, in fact i think that's half the fun. the problem i've had with craigsllist is a.) getting people to respond and b.) finding people who are ok with not meeting me in person before i move out there.

since 99% of the people i've spoken to want to meet a potential roommate, i've decided to fly out there on friday and spend most of next week looking for a place.

any areas you think are better / worse than others?

i live in presidio heights, which is a pretty good neighborhood. my first choice was the marina, but i just couldn't find anything when i needed a place. i would recommend the marina or north beach if you can find a good place.

i also think it is a good idea about coming out here for the weekend to visit. i did the same thing and it worked out well. just have a whole bunch of people you can go visit. i think i had like 6 places i went to, and found a pretty good setup. i would be surprised (and a little wary) if anyone was willing to take a roommate site unseen. its just a good idea to meet the people you are going to be living with.

anyway, my thoughts on preference:

1) marina
2) north beach
3) pac heights/presidio heights

Oh and seriously, if you are 25, please skip looking in Presidio and Pacific Heights for at least another 10 years. You need to be in the Haight or the Valencia (safer) side of the Mission. Hell of a lot (well maybe a little) cheaper, and a lot more fun. I'd choose either of those over the Marina or North Beach too. As a matter of fact, I have, for the last six years.

Ask Ajax if you can shack up w/ his new nanny. He is there too.
