Any of y'all stayed at either Encore or Aria?

The missus wants to stay at either the Wynn Encore or the new Aria in City Center for an upcoming Vegas vacation. Review sites like TripAdvisor and Travelocity give mostly great reviews for both, but then again there are horror stories for both as well. No such thing as a perfect hotel, I guess...what is HFs' experience? Thanks!

I stayed at the Aria beginning of May. It's plusses are:

-new construction
-modern design
-tech-centric rooms (single remote for anything electronic)
-fairly small, but nice casino floor, with lots of options for dining/drinks.
-the Vdara is attached behind the Aria and offers a good amount of dining options as well.
-Aria is located pretty much in the middle of the Strip, so you can walk to more destinations, plus the tram stops next to Aria Center.

The cons:
-restaurants are more high-end than at other casino/hotels
-some think the oil fragrance pumped in the air is too strong (i thought it smelled like cotton candy and peanut butter cookies)
-not as kid-friendly as some other casinos may be (if you're worried)

Girlfriend and I didn't stay at the hotel for long each day, but we did enjoy our stay overall. The front desk was accommodating (pry for free upgrades based on what day/time you arrive). I would stay at the Aria again on my next trip if it were evenly priced with other hotels in the area. I'd place it in the same class hotel as Mandalay Bay, cleaner than Caesars, not as fancy as Bellagio, but not cluttered like Venetian or PHollywood.

I can't speak for the Encore or Wynn, because I never seem to end up at that end of the Strip.

oh, and it was unseasonably cool when we went in May, so we didn't take time to hang out at the pool at the Aria, although it was nice looking and have heard it's not as trendy and less crowded than the pools at MGM, Venetian and Hard Rock. I remember seeing that there was construction at the Encore for a new luxury pool area, but not sure that's finished yet. Supposed to be nice, though.
