Any Good Free Anti-Virus Software?

Just had to reinstall my OS, due in part to huge problems derived from the use of Norton.

Is there any good free anti-virus software out there?

I've heard of avast!, but that's the only one. Any opinions?

Avast...I use it, my boss uses it, all of my roommates use it, 4 or 5 of my friends use it...none of us have ever had issues with it...

Go with Avast...

I changed from Avast to Antivir.

Honestly, between Avast, AVG, and Antivir, I don't think you'll find much difference between them performance-wise.

Been using AVG for years and like it Other good free stuff out there too, like Windows Defender and Spywareblaster. I also like the Secunia site for the free scan which tells you if any program needs updating and where to go to do it.

I had the same problem with Norton, so I swithched to Avast. I had problems with Avast too. It seemed to conflict with my Outlook. If I opened my Outllook before opening Internet Explorer, everything will freeze until I close Outlook. I liked Avast, but it was a pain in the *** to deal with when my computer would freeze. i guess I am going to switch to AVG. Does it scan incoming email?

AntiVir and AVG have worked fine for me.

In fact, it has caught things that our Symantec Corporate AV missed.

Yes, AVG handles email.

AVG. Do it. Scans email, too.

Updates daily. Catches stuff McAfee and Norton won't (in my experience.)
