wow, she sure has! I have seen them a few times and mostly in LA in the early to mid 80s. It turns out I have two friends (girls) who have dated John Doe at one time or another back in the day. i am sure he "dated" more than a handful. I love that band to this day and frequently play their music.

Cervenka, gee whiz girl.

She looks the classic babuschka(sp).

Hard to exactly locate how she and Viggo Mortenson used to hook it.

X are great. Last couple of time through town they rocked it solid.

The Sydney X are coming to Chaos in Tejas on 5/27 or so. Very rare endeavor in to the light for those guys. Worth seeing based on recorded output.

Saw them a couple of times in Austin back in the early/mid 80's. As Will said, she had a certain sexiness about her back then. Guess no more...

Wow, Will, I can almost guarantee we were at one time or another. I was with a bunch of the skaters who would sometimes set up a 1/4 in the parking lot or in a corner of the venue if it was a warehouse. I used to love T.S.O.L. and Agent Orange as they were skate bands for the most part then. Whiskey was fun too but they tended to have dickish security sometimes.

I am going to send you a pm to see if you know a couple of gals I know from the scene back then I am still friends with. Long shot but then again, maybe not really as we are the same age and the scene really wasn't all that huge.

The early Suicidal Tendencies shows were epic. Yeesh, this could go on and on. Then the sprouting Phoenix scene, the freshness of the San Fran scene.

I used to like KROQ just fine but listened to KXLU more often. They turned me on to Cocteau Twins and for that I am eternally grateful. The left end of the dial had the punk. Same thing in San Fran with KPFK and Houston with KPFT, 90.1. Chuck Roast and Jack Cheese would kill it whenever they were on the air.

I don't remeber kxlu. The college station out of the Claremont Colleges was terrific then. KSPC the space 88.7. 1000 watts of "nothing else like it".

the remarkable thing about those years was the way the hard rock/metal scene blended with the punk scene. The Stepmothers would open for Motley Crue one night, and Black Flag the next.

It was wild. On friday, it was a wild scene with some punk band at the Troubadour, on Saturday, the house band was "Johnny Cougar" (John Mellencamp).

Her ex-husband has aged a little better than she has.

Oh, and I've seen her perform, but not with "X". Only with The Old 97s at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip.

Here they are together somewhere else: The Link

Yoladu, the movie, Suburbia too. The punker one. The bands playing and the shows or music more than anything. I can not vouch for Will but I never lived in a commune with wild dogs running around. I was hounded by rednecks plenty of times, however. It came with the turf as a skater back then. People would just drive by and throw bottles or debris at you. You flip 'em off, they turn around and it's on.

I remember skating around the Drag in Austin and even the East Side when it was a bit dicey at times. The people never gave us a hard time and sometimes would come watch us. They always bought us beer (if we gave them extra cash to get one for them).

I remember these guys asking to buy my Red Hot Chili Peppers cassette of "Freaky Styley" and the Big Boys, "No Matter How Long The Line Is At The Cafeteria There Is Always A Seat". They loved the funk energy of those two bands. I made 'em a deal. They buy us a flask of Southern Comfort and they get the tape.

Good times.

Saw them play Austin with the Dead Kennedys.

And still have 4th of July in the rotation.

Here they are on Letterman X Two songs and a somewhat younger Exene speaks alittle with Dave in the middle

There are some good Rodney on the Roq compilation records that are out there. Are pretty decent, but definetely catches the flavor well.
