Any Bruno Reviews?

Not as good as Borat, but has some very funny parts. Lots of genitalia. Lots.

Still, very funny but slightly disturbing at the same time.

I saw it yesterday, and it is disturbingly funny. Very pornographic. With the emphasis on graphic.

When it was over, some guy at the bcak of the theater said, loudly, "Waste of money." He got a reaction, and not what he expected-- turns out most of the audience liked it.

Cohen is a provocateur of the first order, and this film will force those who see it to examine their feelings about other lifestyles. Of course, the people who most need to see it almost surely won't.

I think I won't go in with an open mind. I already don't like this Bruno as well as the one he did on his TV show for HBO. He tries too hard to be over the top in this one with the hair did and all.

His interviews with Shaud at Bama, the guy saying "Wassup" and "Ich don't think so" and others like the wrestling team on the beach flipping out when he says the footage is for Austrian Gay TV...classic.

I prefer the more subdued Bruno over the seemingly more flamboyant Bruno. I like my gay men to be more mellow.

Wait, I mean, it was supposed to...oh never mind.

As others have said, funny in parts and a little silly in others. Definitely not for the prudes among us.

Thanks, Rocky.

notreally, how about when during Fashion Week in Paris he is recognized by a designer. "Vat, you know who I am?" But the guy let's him be a model in the show and he busts out the Worm on the runway!

Or when he was getting cursed at profusely at the Alabama football game. The phobes were very vocal on that one. I was not sure how he was getting out of there without an *** beating.

That was a big, "Wassup".

Bruno was my favorite character on Da Ali G show, but I am afraid I'll be disappointed when I see this movie.

What made Bruno funny was the innocent way he seeped his gayness into conversation unexpectedly, as if to say, "What, isn't everybody gay?"

From what I've seen in previews and talk shows, it seems they went the over-the-top route of trying to make Bruno more and more "outrageous." It almost seems as if they tried to hard. Like the whole baby-swapping skit - how does that relate to Bruno's character?

Oh well, maybe if I have low expectations I'll actually like the movie.

Not as entertaining as "Borat," IMO.

Bruno was visited America with a different mindset and I thought film maker Cohen was trying too hard in/on "Bruno."

Borat was more vulnerable and that balanced out and/or complicated his character better for me, however you want to think of that duality.

Plus, after you've looked at one actual ******* in a closeup, you've effectively seen them all.

If you could go back (after seeing both movies) and make a choice to have watched either "Borat" or "Bruno" twice versus seeing each movie once, which would you pick?

And which movie will you recommend more to others?

I'd go with the double dose and recommendation of "Borat."

I could have done without "Bruno."

Saw it last night. Pretty much agree with what others have said. It had some really funny scenes and some disturbing ones. Overall it was good but the Borat movie was better.

Okay, I saw it and really liked it. Not as consistently entertaining as Borat, but in some ways the best bits were even more inspired. The final big bit was brilliant on many levels. And I could not believe the one where he basically dared a real-life terrorist to shoot him in the head. That one had nothing to do with genitilia; it was the Ali G interview humor taken to I-can't-believe-they-actually-tried-that extreme.

Yes, there were some yawners. Some bits seemed forced. I guess I thought the whole was greater than the sum of its parts.

Unlike the previews, the movie actually did stay true to Bruno's innocent character. It also developed more on the fashion show host side. Bruno isn't just a horny gay guy. He's obsessed with anything to do with fame.

So yes, I know it wasn't an all-time great movie, but I thought it was definitely worth watching, particularly if you have liked SBC's style in the past.

Had there not been cameras there, the rednecks in the woods would have killed him.

The arkansas fight fans would have killed him had there not been a high fence and lots of security around.

It was not so funny as Borat and I agree he tried too hard.

I was driving home afterwards and thought of the scene in the woods where he goes to the other guy's tent and says his clothes were eaten by a bear---except for these condoms. I started laughing so hard I had to pull off the road because I couldn't see.

Borat > Bruno. That said, I thought both worked much better as 3-5 minute skits. It's hard to make a plot/story out of either schtick (sp?) consistently funny.

Also agree with other posters who commented on the uberflamboyance of Movie Bruno. Skit Bruno was less flamboyant and more oblivious, which was part of the charm of the character that made him both likeable and funny. Movie Bruno goes so far that, at least for me, I quickly disliked him.

**partial spoiler**

I was disappointed that Bruno picked on my guy Ron Paul in his attempt to make a sex tape, and I actually thought Ron Paul handled himself pretty well (at least given his generation). Maybe he tried other presidential candidates first, but didn't get past their screeners. Or maybe the others were willing to go for it!
