Antivirus 2008 XP

Has anyone gotten this virus? I had downloaded some updates for windows one night and was installing them when I got a message that I had 650 virus and spyware on my computer and I needed to download a patch. Well it was a virus that I downloaded now I am trying to get rid of it. I think I have it then an hour later the pop-up comes back and trys to download it again. At first I could not even download and install a virus scan and my browser would be redirected. I have now fixed those problems but the installer pop-up keeps comming back any ideas.

If anyone gets a message that you have virus even if it looks like it is from MS don't download it until you check it out. On a number of message boards about this virus people who should know better have downloaded it because the site looks just like a MS update site.

Before you do anything find a restore point that you can go back to. This got rid of it for me and havent had it in weeks. If you want you can run some program after that but it shouldnt find anything.
