another sooner crying on national TV

Eh, the kid had dreams. This was his one shot to win a title, riding on the coattails of his brother. Give him a break. It's the best season he'll ever have.

Funny.

I like that Taylor was crushed. It shows he gives a ****, which is more than we can say for Austin Johnson. Blech. What a joke he played like today.

TMG is a better point guard as a high school senior than AJ was as a collegiate senior.

There's no reason to take a cheap shot at Taylor Griffin. The kid is a helluva' basketball player and a fierce competitor, like a Sooner version of a Gabe Muoneke or James Thomas. We'd love him if he wore burnt orange, because he plays the game hard and well.

Taylor just played his last college basketball game, probably his last game with his brother as a teammate, and maybe his last meaningful basketball game of any kind (depending upon his pro options as an undrafted FA or overseas). He also went down fighting in the Elite Eight of the Tournament. So, he deserves a few tears under a towel. He earned them.

Show a little class. The fact that his younger brother is a POY-caliber player doesn't diminish Taylor's career.

Making fun of the band chick, I understand. I mean, why not laugh at that?

But a four-year contributor who just played his final NCAA game? I don't get it.

Earlier this month, during the Big 12 tournament, the camera caught Texas Tech's Alan Voskuil starting to tear up as he took the bench in the waning moments of Tech's season-ending, 81-60 loss to Missouri. I was moved.

Here's this kid whose entire youth has been dedicated to a sport and it's all about to end. Four years of playing his *** off for Coach Knight & Son and it's all over--there's no NBA and probably not even a Euro-league in his future. It almost made me cry.

Have some empathy.

I'm a Taylor Griffin fan. He's an underrated player. It wouldn't surprise me for him to have a long career overseas.

I would probably tear up in the same situation.

OU still sucks.

Taylor can thank his brother for helping him get into the first round (and possibly top 20) of the NBA draft. Whatever team drafts him will be making a huge mistake because the guy is no more than a role player and would probably be a descent contributor on an overseas team. But Blake helped his brother make a lot of money before a NBA team figures that out. It was interesting to see Taylor play some OK defense on Tyler Hansborough, another player that some NBA team will be making a huge mistake when they draft him.

As for crying, I agree - f him. Sooners suck. Bottom line.

I hate ou as much as the next guy and actually get enjoyment out of any sooner in agony but I don't put it in the same category as band chick or any fan crying. He earned the right.

The only time you are allowed to cry as a fan is after a big win, i.e. the 2006 Rose Bowl or of course a situation like the Cole Pittman game against UNC. I was flat out sobbing when Bill Little announced why Major took a knee. I was one of those who was wondering what the hell we were doing until the announcement and then it hit me like a ton of bricks.

My take:

Taylor was a gritty player. Yes he went to OU so I didn't like it if he did well against us, but I don't harbor the ill will towards Oklahoma kids who play for OU like I do the Texas kids who go there. It is the whole Bomar, Peterson, and the fat assed mama's boy loser from this year that are the traitors that I reserve the right to hate.

Taylor can cry if he wants and I just really don't care much either way.

I've never been a big fan of the crying athlete in public. Wait until you get off the court and take that crap into the locker room. You're a freaking grown man.

players fighting for it all have a right to cry. it was their loss. even if it is the sooner no one gives a **** about he has a right to cry.

crying sooner fans are another story and deserve the onslaught. only hot chicks can cry on national t.v. and not be made fun of. they're suppose to be emotional. not fat band chicks.

Amen brother, you took the words right out of my mouth. Go cry in private. Save your public tears for a real crisis.

Many top athletes cry when they fall short of their dreams. I wouldn't hold it against them no matter who the **** they play for.
