heh.. i was just about to post this. i think this is a great change in the way we do things. offer a stud OOS player early... if no interest, no big deal. gotta feel that muschamp has had a good feel on this kid from recruiting last year.

this has nothing to do with shepard. as for loston, that was always a longshot. if loston comes in and loves texas (not holding my breath), then i could imagine a situation where it's 1st come 1st serve. then again, how could you say no to one of those guys?
 
Most fans here will welcome a little more OOS recruiting, especially earlier in the process. Keep the state of Texas the priority (which we are), but take a shot at some talent out there. If there is any position we could tempt OOS talent it would be DB IMO. We're churning out NFL DBs as quick as anyone right now.
 
I feel this is a sign that Mack has given some leeway to his new DC. Normally, Mack would never go out-of-state for a player, especially a CB. I wonder if Applewhite knew the kid as well, not likely since he is defense.
 
Saw the Rivals' video for Kirkpatrick. Most of those passes that he knocked down or intercepted were terribly thrown.
 
I watched them as well hjengo. I'd say you are hypercritical and don't know of what you speak. That's being nice. The kid has a nose for the ball
 
Going after 2 bigtime studs from OOS. I am glad we are trying to go after some of these guys from OOS but keep 90% of the classes from the great state.
Lets get a couple of bad *** OOS guys when we need them.
 
I thought we'd seen enough new tricks from Mack in his hiring and firing in the off season. Who would have thought he'd look for ways to up the strongest part of his game, too?

I think Mack is on mission. It is showing in every aspect of what he does. Way to go, Mack!

Watching Kennard's highlights was fun. I watched all of his highlights and his motor doesn't EVER stop running. Every motion is performed 110% every single play. I'm not expecting anything, but I love Mack's new strategy.

WELL !!! I want you to know, WE have some 2 and 3 stars comming in this weekend that will knock your block off, and our new coaches have a great relationship with them and can DEVELOP them?

We may even sign one of them and get off the snide!

Winning coaches sign great four and five star athletes, say " it's about winning", and then just win!

Losing coaches sign the two and three star athletes left over, say "it's about player development", and then just lose!
 
Maybe mack is taking up my dating strategy from college.....put out a **** ton of offers and eventually someone is going to bite.
 
I am very wary of these out of state guys even if they committ to us. We have to endure a whole year of the local schools and friends and relatives, girlfriends, etc., working on them to change their committments. Not being negative here, but I wold feel more comfortable if they had ties to UT.
 
Any word on whether or not this kid might be coming in for the next junior day or a summer mini camp?

I didn't say Kirkpatrick was overrated or undeserving of his 5 star rating. He looks like a very good player. However, from that 1st/top video on Rivals, many of those passes were not on target or just plain bad. As for football analytical skills, don't assume you're better than me or anyone else on this board. You saying so doesn't mean anything. 1 of the ways that can be proven is by having an analytical contest, such as for the 2008 incoming players.
 
I don't think we should stop trying for OOS blue chippers either, but my point is that I won't belive them until the letter of intent is signed, sealed, and delivered. When that happens I will be jumping up and down.
