Another Darrell Scott article

I'm glad we're in the conversation, but I didn't really get a warm fuzzy out of that article. I hope he's truly conflicted, as opposed to merely being coy. I wish I knew more about how the in-home went...I want this kid in burnt orange.

Don't see it happening for us at all. I think he's building suspense for his moment in the spotlight. Hope I'm wrong.

Granted, we've wanted to see some of the younger guys play more, you really can't say that Mack doesn't play freshman when you take a look at this list:

Big 12 Freshman of the Year:
1998 (Offensive) : Major
1999 (Defensive) : Redding
2000 (Offensive) : Roy
2001 (Offensive) : Benson
2002 (Defensive) : Rodrique Wright
2003 (Offensive) : VY
2005 (Offensive/Defensive) : Jamaal / Orakpo
2006 (Offensive) : McCoy

I don't feel good about it. Typically, recruits who like us commit early and we're done. We never seem to get the late surprise stud.

I too don't get warm and fuzzies reading that article. Nothing there we haven't already heard or read. I think this kid has decided but wants to create intrigue and keep some level of attention on himself. At least he doesn't have a boastful website and predicts he will win the Heisman.

He may say we hold a slight edge, but everything but the weather and being part of a top 10 program is favoring CU.

I guess we will find out what is really important to him.

I seem to recall a freshman named Jamaal Charles helping us win a National Championship in the Rose Bowl not long ago.

I emailed that guy and asked him to rethink his use of the word "fact" vs the word "myth" and copied Puddle/Cruiser's list of B12 Frosh awards into it.

yeah, i saw that. i just haven't really seen anything concrete enough to counter my gut feeling. this isn't an RP or even a Brantley situation, as this kid hasn't committed to us. he has every right to vacillate between schools and take his time...but the longer this drags out, the more i feel like he's boulder bound.

If a guy convinces his buddies to attend CU, we can safely assume that he will accompany them to CU...regardless of what media people are spinning to the contrary.

Chris Simms is the only late surprise stud the program has had in recent times and he was ooc to boot. Scott signing with the Horns would make a swell early Valentines Day gift to us all.

What follows is a gut response and does not grow out of an analysis of what has actually happened in previous years. Having said that--and it may seem strange--I would almost prefer for Darrell's top two choices to be UT and another elite program. The fact that it comes down to UT and CU leaves me thinking its CU.

I just don't see how CU is in this race unless its close to a done deal. Counterintuitive, I know, but I'm betting on CU--though hoping for the Horns. Will wish the young man all the best, whatever he does
