"WASHINGTON (AP) -- The State Department now says it never believed the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, was a film protest gone awry, giving congressional Republicans new fodder for criticizing the Obama administration's initial accounts of the assault.

The State Department's extraordinary break with other administration offices came in a department briefing Tuesday, where officials said "others" in the executive branch concluded initially that the protest was based, like others in the Middle East, on a film that ridiculed the Prophet Muhammad.

That was never the department's conclusion, a senior official told reporters."The Link

Interesting that the conference call where the State Dept admitted there was no connection between the attack on Benghazi and the bid did not include Fox
even though according to Bret Baier Fox is usually included on such calls.

Just after 9/11, didn't the Obama administration send Ambassador Rice around to all the Sunday morning talk shows to vehemently defend their claim that the attacks were not premeditated? Talk about taking one for the team!

Even then it didn't make sense that a mob just happened to spontaneously form on 9-1-1 armed with RPGs and AKs.

I assume the Obama administration was trying to hide their culpability for not being prepared for any eventuality.

You are exactly right. Rice made the rounds on the Sunday talk shows 5 days after the attack and 4 days after the Admin received the reports that the attacks were NOT spontaneous protests bu ta carefully planned attack.

And every fact coming out now about the Bo admin denying security to Benghazie and even Tripoli really reveals the ineptness of the BO admin.

Think how the families must feel knowing security was denied?
Those SEALS who left their safe area to ehlp the people at the consulate are Heroes.

If you listened to any of the hearing today you should be aghast at the incompetence of the administration in protecting our people, and the audacity of their subsequent lies. Like they had no clue what had happened for days.
