Another Ag 4* Gone?

The misery just keeps on increasing over there. Looks like Jonathan Stewart is getting itchy. There is a link to an Alabama source down the thread.

Ouch.

I wouldn't gloat too much. Sherman's incompetence will pave the way for ATM to hire the coach they should have hired - Art Briles. Briles at ATM could be a nightmare for Mack Brown.

Briles would put a little fear in me if he was at am. There really is no where else for Briles to go....He could come to Texas and be a cordinator, he is not going to do that. That was a good call, Briles will be am's next coach.

Branyon, let's wait and see if BU can beat UConn on friday before we go out on that big weak limb. Briles at atm, never happen.

You can't tell about a coach. The things you say about Briles are the same things people (including me) thought about Fran. You never know how it will work out.

Could Baylor keep Briles from going to A&M? They have some money, don't they?

When they got rid of Fran, I thought Briles would be a perfect coach. It seems like byrne got caught up in all "the he used to coach here/knows what it means to be an aggie" bs, which is proving to be a stupid reason to hire a coach.

Why would Briles want to take a step down from Baylor to aggy? It's way too early for aggy to admit the Sherman hire should not have happened, and agricultural isn't ready to float the money yet to buy out both Sherman and $Bill, which is what they'll ultimately do about three years down the road.

I doubt the 'Ol Ball Coach would take over agricultural for any amount of money. He's from the southeast, likes to coach there, and stubbed his toe the only time he took a flier someplace else. Besides, as much time as Spurrier likes to spend on the links, where's he gonna find to golf over at Bagdad on the Brazos? aggy golf club?

What is Briles getting paid at Baylor and how much might he get paid if they go to a couple of bowl games? Is it in the millions?

I really don't know. Sumbody hep me.

Baylor seems to be pretty good about paying enough to keep their good coaches. Right off the top of my head, I don't remember anyone from Waco leaving for greener pastures. Dysfunction Junction would definitely NOT be greener pastures.

Does anybody really "fear" the ole ball coach anymore? I mean, the dude lost to Vandy and he's never been known as a tireless recruiter, which is what they need. If they had any sense, which they don't because they are a bunch of aggy, they would've taken a flier on a fiery young up and comer like Muschamp.

This has been discussed before. This is only an aggy wet dream. Read my lips: The ol' Ball Coach is not going to leave SC for Collie Station. As has been stated he is a SEC guy, he doesn't need more money and he is very passionate about his golf game. SC has some excellent golf in the area, Bryan, Collie Station, Hearne, Caldwell, North Zulch, Dime Box, etc. do not.

Most of all, why would he want all the pressure & headaches of a complete rebuilding job (with a bare cupboard) at a cow college in the middle of no-where at this point in his career / at his age?

Texas agricultural & mechanical is a coaching graveyard - Spurrier is smart enough to recognize that.

Last point, as has already been pointed out: aggy cannot afford him anyway.

Coach Superior is never going to aggy; I'd bet on that. He wouldn't scare me anyway. I just question how brightly his pilot light is burning at age 65.

My personal opinions:

Coach Fran committed fourteen four and five star players last year; Coach Fran was also in the final cut for two more 5 star and four more 4 star players and would have had a top 2-3 class!

Sherman has committed no five star and only three four star players this year and will have the worst recruiting class this decade!

Immediately when appointed as "Dictator of A&M Football " at a salary of $1 per year plus UNLIMITED expenses including covering all IRS taxes, A miller58 administration will reasign Byrne to social security, Sherman to a retirement home, and move RC's locker off campus on day 1. Coach Fran and staff will be immediately rehired on day 1.

A very different approach, that first elimnates any buyout problems, gets A&M a top tier coach and top tier recruiter, and certainly this board knows Fran can coach and he's a proven recruiter.

Coach Fran may not want to lower himself again to suffering through 2 of Sherman's 2 and 3 star recruiting classes for the next five years, after suffering through and just getting rid of the last of five of RC's 2 and 3 star recruiting classes in 2007.

But Coach Fran was able to come in and quickly fill out RC's class with a handfull of recruits , five of which were nfl draft choices, RC got one nfl draft choice out of his large part of the class in the daft his year!

Any of the football challenged 80+% of Ag bloggers, any former A&M employees, or former football players that didn't support A&M in the last five years that don't like this, will be bused back and forth daily to re-orientation in classes at Junction or banned from campus!

My money is on Gary Kubiak to be the next Aggie coach. Sherman will be ready to run back to the NFL about the time Kubiak is ready to escape it.

My personal opinions:

Kubiak fits my profile for a Head Coach except he has almost no experience in recruiting, which completely elimnates him!

And he has said he doesn't like to recruit!

The next head coach must FIRST be a proven recruiter, 10 to 15 four and five star players the first year and every year, no exceptions, period! ( just like Saban, Weis , etc. did ) There are no barriers to recruiting from day one.

The head coaching job at A&M is to successfully compete with UT and ou from day one.

Absolutely none of this on the job training again because Mac, Stoops and Miles are too good.

They've taken Sherman to the woodshed for two classes in a row and did the same thing to RC.

RC and Tim had 7 four and five star recruits in 2001 while Mac had 21, three times as many; then in 2002 RC and Tim had 6 and ou had 18, again three times as many!

When Fran took over from RC, A&M had signed just over 32 four and five star players the past five years while UT had over 60 and ou over 70, twice the number in both cases. Mac retains 80+% while ou, lsu, and A&M retain 70+%.

Now this year Sherman has 3, while Mac has 13 four and five star players, over four times as many! Lsu 12 and ou 5.

With this class being red shirt seniors in 2013 and us at the very bottom of the Big 12 now, Sherman's recruiting will keep us there through 2013!

And Coach Fran had 14 four and five star players committed last year along with being in the final cut for two more 5 star and four more 4 star players. A top 2-3 class.

Of course $Bill's crap last year cost us 17 decommits, and Sherman couldn't hold/re-recruit any of this class so now he complains he's got a bare cupboard, and his 3 four star players in the current class aren't going to solve his problem! Of course he has a bare cupboard after blowing two classes in a row, but Fran left him in fat city!

God, I would fire Byrne today for this mess and rehire Fran in a New York second!!!

And blah, blah, blah!

My personal opinions:

You won't get to laugh at Sherman any more for four star decommits.

After they meet Sherman, 91% commit somewhere else.

If Sherman can't commit 'em, they ain't gona decommit!

It would be fun to see Mack flogging Spurriers *** for five or six years.

Not gonna happen though. Spurrier has his own problems at SC.

I dont care who aggy hires, the only way they are going to be a major force is to crank up the FedEx packages again.

It wont be too much longer before they get the "fed-ex" money going again. Its the only way they can compete. Look at their track record.
