The "conservative" circular firing squad is unloading on John McCain.

They are playing up Kerry's overtures to McCain in 2004.

Somehow, I think their antics are more about 2012, than 2008, as I think they are conceding 2008 to the Democrats and wanting to purge the Party of those who don't toe the "Party line."

Coulter's dislike of McCain makes me like him even more.

I think it's sad that republicans label McCain as a liberal simply because he doesn't bow down to the Rep right.....If you look at how he votes and you listen to what he says when he does not play follow the leader one could see that he is more conservative than you might think..

The right wing pundits are gunning for McCain because their bread and butter is "us vs them." They'd much rather have "them" in the White House because it would mean better ratings and book sales than having a moderate Republican occupy the Oval Office.

Without the support of "conservatives", there will be no Republican in the White House, much less a moderate one. The only way HRC wins the Presidency is if, ironically enough, the Republicans nominate the only guy that could win the general for the Repubs. That will cause, I bet, conservatoves to run a 3rd party guy, handing the White House to the Dems.
