Anita Perry plays the victim card

Yeah I don't think either of them are ready. GWB was different because he saw how the press attacked his father vs. Clinton. He was much more prepared for it.
 
Yeah, GWB was the son of a professional public servant/politician and was likely quite aware that this sort of thing is BAU for those in public life.
 
Yeah this is a shame. I know Rick Perry and his big time supporter buds Bob Perry and Harold Simmons are always so kind when dealing with political opponents. Gosh who would have ever thought there might be mean people involved in Republican Politics? Maybe they should have asked Karl Rove if it was possible that Republicans play hardball with each other before they play hardball with the Democrats?
 
you have to have extra thick skin as a republican. it is why the republican field is so weak. why would a conservative running a successful business go through the bs of running for office to make less money and put your family through hell....nobody i know....
 
G.J. Thanks for the video link. I think it was very instructive. I was struck by a couple of things:
1. She was smiling not tearful through part of the remarks -- braver looking than I expected.
2. It was interesting to look behind the scenes at their household. Sometimes I have to spiff up the yard to get my wife off my back. Poor Rick Perry had to run for president.

I can honestly say after watching the video I've never felt more sympathy for our sitting governor than I'm feeling right now.
 
There was an editorial cartoon that I saw about 3 decades ago (more or less) and I wish I had clipped it and saved it. It depicted the Presidency as a sort of dungeon torture chamber populated by various goons (labeled as The Press, The Loyal Opposition, Foreign Adversaries, etc., and standing in the center was Uncle Sam in shirtsleeves and holding a cat-o-nine-tails whip, and calling off to the side, "OK, send in the next guy!" (Take a look at Bill C and GWB at the beginning and end of their 8 years in office. Or see how much Jimmy C aged in only 4 years. That says a lot for the strain of running for and serving as President.)
