I confess I'm addicted. It combines a need to pass 'levels' with the fun of destroying wood, glass and buildings with crazy birds. And it's not just that you break stuff- but your creativity in breaking things is needed in order to score more points. Creativity, and a basic knowledge of physics
.
I know that's not a great explanation- but I confess I'm hooked. I play it during breaks or waiting in lines etc.
The challenge is in getting 3 stars every level and finding the golden eggs. I finished it on my old phone, now strangely I'm reliving the challenge on my Ipad.
Makes me nostalgic for the old days when video games were simple and the allure was just the frustration of passing levels. Hate to sound like a grumpy old man, but I really hate the new video games that are overly complex.
It's really a new take on an old concept that has done many times. I remember an old game on Apple 2e and another on my old 386 that involved choosing an angle and a velocity and trying to launch a missle to destroy something. Now AB uses your finger and that "something" is a green pig.
It's a puzzle. How do you knock down the materials quickly and thoroughly enough to earn three stars given the arrangement of the materials and the array of physical capabilities offered by your given set of birds.
It is enjoyable because you get to break stuff and you have to crack each level's code. There is nothing more to it than what one sees.
My 2nd grade daughter loves it to the point she has a poster from B&N, a stuffed green pig and a classic red Angry Bird from Fry's and a whole host of drawings and sketches of all the different kinds of birds. Oh yeah, add a t-shirt to that from Target.
I'm sure a movie and cartoon will follow at some point.
From the play and music, I think you always get a sense of steady but unpredictable progress towards a goal with easy redo. I prefer geoDefense myself.
