Lease issue. Haven't heard any details - was the price jacked up? Could they not make payments? Did a tax subsidy run out?

Basically, indie moviedom in Houston is dead.

Isnt River Oaks still open? That is a shame, i loved that theatre, nobody was ever there.

Weingarten Realty has the bulldozers ready for the River Oaks too.

Another downtown theatre was at least contemplated. Over to the west of Discovery Green. Maybe this will be the incentive to follow through with that idea? More and more residential creeps into the area.

They could have saved it with just a few screenings of The Expendables and some Michael Bay flicks.

Houston's overall plan to revitalize nightlife in that area of downtown hasn't worked well.
