Ang Lee's: 'Lust, Caution'

I'm thinking of going to see IRON MAN today because it's been out a few days, some friends have already seen it, and SPEED RACER comes out next Thursday.

I was looking at times and I saw that Ang Lee's LUST, CAUTION is now playing in Buenos Aires. I was wondering if anyone saw it. And if so, what did you think?

I received "Lust, Caution" from NETFLIX, thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it.

Interesting dramatic story, well directed and acted, with very real looking, heterosexual sex scenes.

Subtitled, if that matters.

Here's another somewhat similar foreign language film I also enjoyed from NETFLIX:

And this is another scarcely seen film, English speaking with an Oriental setting, featuring similarly realistic dynamics which I thought was very, very, very good:

The Link

Not nearly as much on screen sex, but a sweeping, yet intimate, story I thought rivaled such movies as "Doctor Zhivago" or "The Bridge on the River Kwai."

I enjoyed each of these flicks, but I thought "The Painted Veil" was especially memorable.

I felt "The Painted Veil" was Oscar nomination worthy in several categories, but I never even heard of it until happily discovering it via NETFLIX.

Anybody seen it?

Napoleon or anyone else, let us know what you think about any of these.

Here's the review I posted on another board:

Saw "Lust, Caution" directed by Ang Lee, who won an Oscar for directing "Brokeback Mountain."

I found it via NETFLIX and my wife and I enjoyed it.

The Link

It's a Chinese language espionage thriller set in WW II Hong Kong and Shanghai with plenty of intrigue and lots of explicit heterosexual sex, realistically filmed in service of excellent plot development.

So, if Oriental sex and English subtitles don't eliminate you as a viewer, I recommend this as a well-made and acted movie that's interesting, nuanced and compelling.

It received a NC-17 rating, which was not appealed, and was only sparsely released in the USA.

This slowly exciting and exquisitely layered flick is about the trials and tolls of spying, rather than Kung Fu fighting.

Could be Oscar nominated as Best Foreign Language Film.

Could even win, if any of the Academy voters ever see it, I think.

I liked and appreciated it.

Anybody seen it?

Anyone want to?

I am told Taiwan submitted it for last year's Oscars, but it was rejected because most of the participants are not from Taiwan.

So, apparently, the nomination window is closed.

I heard from my same impeccable source that "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" lost because of its misleading title.

No Tigers or Dragons crouched or hid or even showed up.

Lust, Caution should go over well in Argentina. I thought the lead actress was terrific, especially for her first movie.
