Always worth reading... On Baylor: In reply to: [hr]Five points as the season nears, according to head coach Scott Drew: 1. The rotation is set. Drew is pleased that he has the order of who will be in the game at what times. Expect to see these guards on the floor plenty: sophomore LaceDarius Dunn, senior Henry Dugat, junior Tweety Carter and senior Curtis Jerrells. The rotation inside: senior Kevin Rogers, senior Mamadou Diene, freshman Quincy Acy, freshman Anthony Jones and freshman Fred Ellis. 2. Shot selection is still a constant concern. That has to improve. 3. Blocking out has also been a problem in practice. 4. The Bears have the thrust of their system in place but are still behind in putting in a lot of their zone offense and defense. 5. Freshman Quincy Acy has been impressive. His highlight reel of dunks should be good fodder for many a television network this season. Drew said he's definitely going to help the Bears answer interior-scoring issues. [hr] Wow about OU: In reply to: [hr]Oklahoma sophomore forward Blake Griffin finished his two exhibitions a perfect 16-for-16 from the field. [hr] And this little tidbit: In reply to: [hr]Guess we can cross off Houston as a contender in Conference USA. Well, it was only one game, and Kentucky proved it could turn its season around after losing to Gardner-Webb last season. But Houston will be smarting for a while after losing to Georgia Southern in the first game of the college basketball season Monday afternoon in Durham at the Coaches vs. Cancer event at Duke. If this matchup was any indication of the season at hand, we might have plenty more games, outside the top 25, in which there isn't much difference between a decent team from a lower-profile conference and an average high-major.
