And then there were two

Okay folks, it's down to two: Ryan vs. Cuban. Who you got?

As much as I'm sure all the fans want it to be Ryan, if all we're talking about is $$ and business acumen here, you would have to say the favorite is Cuban. He knows what the other guys will bid.

There is one offset that would favor Nolan and Greenberg: Cuban bought in to the Lenders, so as long as he drives up the bid, he can still make a profit from his initial buy-in. Must be nice to have a few billion laying around so you can go make even more with it.

Eric,
I agree, Hicks needs to disappear from baseball.

Been a busy morning & twitter is blocked here at work....I'm hoping Greenberg gets the nod.

from 20 minutes ago...nothing nailed down yet.

I didn't know this tidbit...very good>>>> The judge has said creditors will only get about $75 million from the team but they can go after Hicks' other companies. Unsecured creditors are expected to be paid the full $204 million owed to them - including Alex Rodriguez, who's owed $24.9 million in deferred compensation six years after he was traded to the New York Yankees.

For some reason I'm becoming more confident that G/Ryan will prevail. It was noted that their group has some deep pockets and if that's the case, I think they could keep bidding. Gawd, I hope I didn't just jinx this thing.

I'm pulling for Cuban. That guy wants to win at everything he does. I'm sure he will bring some attitude to the Rangers like he has to the Mavricks.

The day has finished with Cuban in the lead but Ryan's group is crying foul on procedural issues.

Is it because this is being done by the courts and not MLB that cuban is allowed to bid?

I thought MLB made it clear with the cubs that they didn't want him owning a franchise.

got your facts wrong. Cuban was approved as a possible purchaser of Cubs. He just didn't offer enough.

caught a lil bit of The Ticket's top 10 tonight...greatness. Had the fake Cuban and Nolan trying to outbid each other...Nolan- "I bid a billion dollars, Chris Davis, and a 1960 farm tractor that a certain righthander that threw 5 no hitters has ridden before, and a Robbie Ventura knuckle to the head as a bonus. That'll mess your ugly hair up"

Cuban. - "don't mess with hair, *****"

On happier fronts, grand slam for Young. Allsome.

Greenberg needs to accept that the move to put the Rangers into bankruptcy was epic fail. They miscalculated the will of the courts to do their job. They assumed that this was the best way of making the creditors take less. Problem was that once in bankruptcy, the Court has a responsibility to see that the franchise has maximum value at sale to protect the creditors as much as possible. Greenberg understood this, he just assumed that the timeframes would be so short that no one could secure the needed financing. Mr. Greenberg, meet Mark Cuban. He is a billionaire.

I want Nolan to be part of this thing one way or the other. Greenberg f-ed this up though. He displayed a great deal of hubris expecting to court to begin and wrap up the bankruptcy of a $500+ million entity that serves as collateral for $525 million in debt in less than a month.
