According to CNN AlQ recently held a meeting of the top AlQ leaders speaking to a group of Al Q "freedom fighters" somewhere in Yemen.

Hopefully the US did not send drones to take out the heads of the snake because they had other assets monitoring this and wanted the intel from the meeting.

In the vid Nasir al-Wuhayshi says, ""We must eliminate the cross. ... The bearer of the cross is America!"

You are questioning the strategy of the US intelligence and military strategy based on information from CNN, a source you've also questioned in the past. Typical.

I'll assume that if CNN was aware of this "convention" then it's very likely that the CIA was too and leveraged it appropriately for their end game.

You need to learn the difference between opinion offered by an outlet and news being reported.

This cannot be true. Obama told us that bin laden was dead, GM was alive, and al queda was defeated.

I don't know who is the bearer of the Cross, but I'm pretty sure the libs have killed any chance America had at that title. We're a secular nation that says "happy holidays", not "Merry Christmas", so that we're careful not to offend anybody.

There was zero conflation between Iraq and the War on Terror by those guys.

Mission Accomplished was wrong all the way around.

It made for an effective re-election campaign though especially if you don't care about the costs in blood and treasure.

it appears I was correct, Good for the CIA and BO.

CNN is reporting
"(CNN) -- An operation targeting al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula is under way in Abyan and Shabwa, Yemen, a high-level Yemeni government official who is being briefed on the strikes told CNN on Monday.

The official said that the scale of the strikes against AQAP is "massive and unprecedented" and that at least 30 militants have been killed. The operation involved Yemeni commandos who are now "going after high-level AQAP targets," the official said.

A day earlier, suspected drone strikes targeted al Qaeda fighters in Yemen for the second time in two days, killing "at least a dozen," the government official said."The Link
