Just saw this film and its trailer listed as opening April 8. I think much of the footage in the film is already available in various YouTube clips, but as a Hicks fan I'm looking forward to seeing what the filmmakers do with this.

Ok , Im going to violate my CC rule of not shitting on anyone else's favorite band and say that Bill Hicks is not a great comedian. Believe me....I want to like him, He's irreverent, anti religion , anti establishment........... a southerner, a Texan. I just dont see anything close to brilliance and Im a huge stand up fan. Dana gould, loUis CK, Chapelle. Carlin, Hedberg, mencia, Cosby , steve martin..........I have a pretty wide range of comics that i really dig and Im finding it troubling that i cant get into hicks.

So far i havent paid for any of his stuff...... only heard multiple youtube clips. Let me know what album I need to buy so i can give him another shot.

I agree. I think he is remembered better now than he was. Not that he didn't have some good bits but others did better with the same material. And for me Richard Pryor was the best stand up guy ever.

I hear ya. I don't think he was head and shoulders above anyone, but he did push the boundaries in some unique ways that makes him stand out. And his bit about life being 'just a ride' was insightful and poignant, to me anyway.

I think Bill Hicks is the top of the second-tier of comedians, but his stuff still makes me laugh.

However, I firmly disagree with Hooklahoma placing that hack job, thief Mencia above my dentist, much less any hundreds of comedians, hell, even above female comediens....

I won't blast someone for not digging Bill Hicks. There are some comedians that a lot of folks love and for me I just don't get it. But I saw a lot of Hicks' material when I was in high school and he was still alive, and I still find his stuff hilarious.

The Bob Edwards Show on XMPR had a segment on Mr. Hicks last week talking about the upcoming movie.

I've never heard Hicks before, and first heard of him through this board. The snippets of Hick's performances that were played were pretty good, more social commentary than comedy.
