When I heard his rendition last night, my jaw hit the floor. That performance probably ranks in the top 3 of all performances during the show's entire run. Wow. After he did it, I kind of think he should've saved it for a bigger moment. He could only do one verse. If he had done the entire song, I'm not sure Paula Abdul would've been conscious at the end.
Yeah, I didn't want to believe the hype on this kids but after last night damn he's good. He could get voted out tonight and that performance will get him a record deal. If he's lucky he won't win so he doesn't have to put out a record thats been packaged for the winner. Those that loose tend to do better.
When he started singing Imagine, my first thought was his balls were bigger than his brains, but it turns out that he's just that good. I mean, I knew he was good, but as my wife said, he could do that song with that arrangement, put out a record and have a hit today.
I just watched my dvr of the show from last night. While he was very good and easily the best male performer this week, I won't go as far as to say the competition is over. It's very early, and a few of those ladies can really sing, too. As for how that performance stacks up against performances and performers of past seasons of AI, there have been several that were better. It was too slow and not nearly as perfect as some would like to make it out to be. He also threw in some runs that made it seem a little too much about the singer and not enough about the song, and Imagine is really all about the song and it's message, imho. That's one of the things that made it such an enduring favorite.
Put me in the really good, but not amazing camp. I think Syesha is the one to beat right now. She is great each week. Right behind her are Brook and Carly.
