American Idol 4/10

Kicking the Aussie off was ********. Even the crowd was angry.

The American people are idiots. There was no objective way the Aussie guy was worse than the dreadlocked Ag or the 12 year old. Let's see which one gets a record deal first.....
 
That was remarkable. Is it unprecedented in American TV to have an overtly Christian song sung during regular programming? Interesting.

On one hand, gospel music is a large segment of the industry. OTOH, networks have avoided it for fear of polarizing and segmenting their audience.

A few weeks ago, when they were all singing Dolly Parton songs, the dreadlocked kid sang a song that mentioned Jesus a few times. The judges were not enthusiastic about his performance, and I turned to my wife and said, "He'll sail through the voting this week", feeling that he had just given the signal to millions of mainstream Americans that he was "one of them". He did easily make it into the top vote-getters that week.

I'm sure the producers know exactly what triggers are working for their audience.
 
Working the mainstream seems to be one of the major keys to success on American Idol since it is as much of a popularity contest as it is a singing contest. Christie Cook is probably in the lower half of the pack when it comes to pure singing talent, but she looks to have switched to all country songs to get the vote of the country fans. It seems to be working for her. Im not sure what happend to the Aussie guy, he definitly was one of the better singers.
 
That was crazy. Isn't he the one that sang Queen? He probably should've been in the top 3. David A, Aggie, tattoo chick, country cook, and Syeesha all pretty much suck. He'll be fine. Remember the real losers are the ones that win. Their albums usually suck.
 
This happens because you vote for the best instead of the worst. If people voted for the worst, there'd be no suprises. Crafty, are these Idol folks.
 
VERY shocked about Michael Johns getting the boot. They should've done what they did last year and not kick anyone off during "Idol Gives Back" week. I figured, sure enough, that Syesha would be gone, but she is getting through somehow. Michael Johns will get a record deal. I love his bluesy voice. I would buy his CD. As for aggy boy, youngster, and Carly, not sure why they're still there. Ag and youngster are probably getting the teeny boppers vote. Carly?? beats me! Her performance was horendous!

Anyone know what the theme is next week??
 
Clarkson and Underwood are the exception. I wouldn't consider sparks. I didn't even know she had a song out yet.
 
if the kid has legit chops, he'll make it.

Clarkson and Underwood would have been stars with or without Idol. It might have taken longer, but it would happen because they are legit talents.
 
I was actually pissed at Seacrest for giving him a glimmer of hope with the whole "Last year at this time, no one was kicked off" Then saying "But you're going home" or something like that. It was seriously messed up
 
I'm with orange. I told la esposa that the Aussie should have kicked Seacrest in the nads and then stood over him like Mike Tyson yelling "Seacrest out that, *****."
 
Isn't Kristi Lee Cook only 24 right now? That video is from 7 years ago, making her 17, if my math is correct, yet in that video she's rolling around in the sack with some faux Marine with a non regulation haircut....
 
What a load of ****. Johns was better than half the field. Damn teeny boppers.

The look on Carly's face was priceless (wtf, you sure it wasn't me?). ***** needs to go.
 
This was AMERICAN Idol last I heard.....not Austrialian Idol.

Sorry, I'm just bitter that UT is getting pounded by Missouri tonight.
 
Those video links about the drunken Irish chick and Kristi Lee Cook are interesting to say the least. Turns out KLC bombed at two labels and the Irish girl was a new artist at MCA while Randy Jackson was head of talent development at MCA. It seems as though they know each other.
