American football players vs Rugby players

I love both sports.

American Football players hit each other head on, and you don't tend to get that quite as much in Rugby.

However, you seem to see a lot more blood and I might say, players playing with some nasty injuries in Rugby.

How do you think some of the NFL guys would do playing Rugby, playing without pads and oxygen on the sidelines?

Which players that you can name do you think would cope well and adjust to the game?

Are they similar enough?

I'd like to add Aussie Rules Football to this discussion

I think Adrian Peterson and Urlacher would absolutely dominate. Hell, put VY and Reggie Bush out there and no one would touch them.

any NFL linebacker would destroy those guys, it's the fitness that comes into question as a Rugby player is constantly running.

All OL's would have to drop about 40-100 lbs before they could even consider playing.

The TE's would be the big guys in the middle size-wise, but these days those guys are *******.

Basically the guys that would rule are LBs & FBs and some RBs & DBs.

I think that Reggie Bush is too much of a ***** to do very well in rugby. (I watched a LOT of the World Cup last year because the Pumas were really doing well.) If he's throwing punching on the sidelines against Fresno St. & UT, he doesn't have what it takes.

Individuals that would shine-

Urlacher
Ray Lewis about 5 years ago (he's got that killer mentality)
Moose Johnston
Earl Campbell
Ricky
Adrian Peterson

...basically strong, tough, bulls that never tire. That would rather die than lose. Showboats wouldn't last long.
