I think many of us feel major changes underway. Guessing the outcome, what we will see on the other side is challenging and perhaps frightening. Here's some links on that subject for weekend reading if anyone wishes to go there and perhaps discuss some of this.

My take: Elements of the US government have silently erected an empire over the past several decades without the consent of the public. There was never consent from the public to make the US an empire and never acknowledgement that an empire even exists. This empire now requires global management of finance, military, and trade policy. We are overextended in terms of debt and complexity, yet must double down to maintain control. At the same time, inequality and social divisiveness at home are straining the system. The population has lost faith in the political and even in the legal system. The delimma: If we pull back the system collapses and the people who wield the most power lose it. If we continue to double down, we face continual war and eventual catastrophe.
