Amazing Texas Recruiting Numbers

I got this information from other web sites but so far Texas has given 32 offers on the 2010 Class and 24 have accepted. This does not include the kicker.
This compares to the following in which I will give the number of offers first then the number of acceptances so far:

Texas A&M 94/24
Nebraska 195/19
Oklahoma State 132/19
Florida 134/25
USC 72/14
Ohio State 60/18
Alabama 119/25
Auburn 129/28
LSU 94/25
Tennessee 228/25
Penn State 57/20
Georgia 108/18

Interesting numbers Bill. Even if the number of offers is off by 100%, Texas still has the highest conversion rate (39%) (PSU closest at 35%).

There will be those who say offer everyone, but Mack seems to have it down to a science.

I'm no math major so I'll probably be made fun of here..but 24 of 32 is 75%.

That's pretty f'in amazing. What's even more amazing if that we only offered 32. That's crazy.

I think what ViperHorn means is that even if we had offered 64 instead of 32, our percentage of 24 out of 64 (37.5%) would still be better than anyone else.

The kicker verbaled to us.

That makes it 25 out of 33!!

off the top of my head:
apo - decommit for religious reasons to byu
dixon - decommit for idiot reasons, now stuck with bible aggy
franklin - late offer, ou got to him earlier than us
matthews - aggy legacy
nelson - wasn't a quick commit, and we ended up targeting hicks more after he committed to aggy (though he never closed the door)
torrea peterson - one of the initial wave of dt offers, and after we filled in on 3, it's not even clear that he had an offer - thus ou
seastrunk - don't get me started on his ridiculous story.
8 is... trovon reed perhaps?

the only true "loss" on that list was matthews imho. a solid OL with great technique and great bloodlines. everyone else was pretty much "replaced" by another recruit with equal/better skills, except for the certain rb who seems like a headcase at this point.

So what would the schools who offer 200 scholarships do if 40 or so accepted? They have to go back and pull the offfers from the ones they don't want?

I posted that on OB and got blacklisted on soonerscoop for that post. It is amazing to see how different recruiting is for Texas compared to everyone else. Now I can see why Mack can get to know his recruits and their families so well. He has a 3rd of the work to do that others have.

Makes sense why Muschamp would turn Tenneesee down (228 offers vs. 32 offers).

I have absolutely nothing to base this on but I find it hard to believe Florida "officially/firmly/seriously/legitimately offered 134 scholarships

109 players turned down the Gators while only the cream of the crop accepted?!!!

That is what is implied by those numbers. An offer is an offer unless you believe 109 players got conditional offers that were only good if the crazy talented players (that did indeed make up their class of 25) said no.

Bill - I'm not saying you're making this up - I know you got the numbers from sources. I'm just saying that all these recruiting sites (and players) claim offers that never got past a few letters in the mail and, "hey kid, we'd like to talk you about playing for us."

As I said before, I have absolutely nothing to base this on except my own skepticism - so take it for what it's worth.

BTW, regardless of the numbers, I would definitely agree with your main premise: Mack is a precise surgeon when it comes to recruiting. Identify and focus on the ones you want and go get em.

What is Tennessee doing, dropping scholarship leaflets from airplanes?? Or maybe putting them in Crackerjack boxes??

Wondering how much of your non-senior recruiting helps out those numbers? When you already have most of your class signed before their senior year, it helps you probably get your numbers down.

The link below is where I got the number of offers. I looked up each school on the recruiting web sites to get the number of acceptances. I don't know where the one that got these numbers got it from but on this web site he has a very dependable reputation.
The Link

Numbers are based on reported offers on Rivals database:

Go onto rivals and go to the "FB recruiting" link - then "Recruit Search & database" - and scroll down to "advanced search". Check to have committed and uncommitted (default setting - halfway down on the right) AND also click "only prospects with offers" - then choose the team from the drop down menu and hit search.

Talk about leaflet dropping....ole Gene Chizik and his Auburn crew are firing scholorships off at a cyclic rate - 486!

even more interesting is the following......

only two texas commits took official visits to other schools. darius white and jackson jeffcoat. at least as far as rivals visit list reports.

as another sooner poster on another site put it.... it's not hard to find gold when you live at ft. knox.

My question is: what is your source of information about who offered who. Mack says players lie all the time about who they have gottne offers from to make them look better among their peers.
