Wow, this season is really, really finishing with a whimper. As much as I usually enjoy AR I've gotta say that I'm really just waiting for this one to be over. This may have been one of the least suspenseful legs in AR history.
TK & Rachel get the earliest flight to Osaka that none of the other teams even hear about & appear to have a 90 minute jump on everyone else. They then vanish for the next 45 minutes of the show which we can only assume was due to missing a connecting flight or massive airport congestion (they had to make 2 connections while the other teams that left later only had to make 1). All I know is that whatever the cause of their delays it must have been so boring that the producers decided there was no need for them to tell the audience what happened. As a result, they came in dead last, 3 hours behind the others but luckily were saved by this being a non-elimination leg.
Meanwhile the other teams fumbled around Osaka, dealing w/ cab drivers that were either lost or apparently about to die behind the wheel (Ron & Christina). Christina, it turns out, spent 6 mos. in Japan & speaks the language which helped her w/ the detour (driving a cab in downtown traffic). We also discover that Christina can barely drive a car. Nathan & Jennifer take the lead despite the fact Jenn seems more interested in how hot she looks wearing the cabbie hat & gloves (answer: very hot, thanks to her sweat glistened bazoombas) than the passengers in the back seat. Nicolas once again shows that his navigating skills make him the pilot I least want to see in the cabin of a plane I'm boarding.
The roadblock was your basic needle in a haystack or try the unknown challenge. Only Nicolas & gramps chose to play robot soccer (wow...did the "master" operators give them a break w/ the goalies or what? I think they just gave their robots the command to fall off the table & break while gramps took an hour to move his player 18") while the other teams found the real flowers in the shop full of millions of fakes.
The only suspense was seeing Nate & Jenn once again seemingly on their way to a first place finish only to fall victim to cabbie karma. Christina's ability to speak the language allowed them to sneak out a 2nd leg victory & her dad was pretty much a nice guy throughout the trek.
So it was basically an hour of no consequences other than the "will Nate & Jenn ever win a leg" drama? Will they finally pull through & win the million dollar leg as Nate was trying to explain? And will TK & Rachel make up the 3 hours & the u-turn to be competitive in the end (the teaser makes it appear as if they do).
Here's hoping the final 2 legs have more drama than the rest of the season so far. What I wouldn't give for a Mirna & Charla appearance right now.
