is 287 faster than taking 40 to OKC and 35 south?

Faster by about 3 hours, I would imagine.

287 is the only way. Bar-L in Wichita Falls on 13th and Travis (not far off of 287) used to be one of the only places that still had a license where they could bring beer to your car, like a car-hop type place. We used to go there, drink 2 or 3 red draws, then go inside for either bar-b-que or chick fried steak, then back to the car for more red draws.

Not really a smokehouse but a neat experience.

I don't care if it added 1+ hours to your trip... I can't see any good reason to go through The Territory, much less OKC (which would essentially put you in Norman).
