AM beats Nebraska in 16

6-3 on Friday night

For some reason, Childress didn't bring on his closer (Starling) to start the ninth with a 3-2 lead. Nebraska got the first two men on before Starling came on, then tied it on a ground-out, and Starling went on to pitch 8 innings of scoreless relief.

Unless I'm doing the math wrong, A&M can clinch the conference title with a win today.

"yeah I'm glad that Byrne guy doesn't know what he is doing......... "

sorry but speaking only for me, I am not ready to bestow any real credit to this spare AD for one good aggy baseball season... wait until you see what his choice of Mike Sherman will produce.

There is no disrespect here, I feel that Childress is one damn good coach. Knowledgeable ags will remember that he was their 6th choice.

With the exception of the Guerrilla Ball 90's dominated by LSU, pitching has been the wining formula for college baseball. Hiring a phenomenal pitching coach was hardly a bad hire. Props to the ags for taking the chance that we would never have taken.

Actually, does the rule that we only hire head coaches only apply to football, or is that all sports?

Anyone else notice a bit of trend UT v ATM the past two years?
Baseball
Football
Softball
Track - men's and womens
Swimming - women
Golf - mens

2 years is a trend? They are doing better than years and years before for a longer period of time (which was what, one victory here and there?) but it could not get worse. What falls either breaks or rises up again, only to fall.

Congrats on an upswing. If History is any indicator, the downswing is coming...again.

I just happen to believe that A&M's athletic programs are headed up in all sports and ours aren't( heading up) ..... especially in head to head comp... they are really coming in Womens sports ....even more so

Give their coaches props. They have done an outstanding job recruiting, and the baseball "Gods" have not plagued them with injuries. Childress is an outstanding pitching coach and he has hired outstanding assistants, especially Deggs.

Personally, I feel Preston Clark's injury has effected us the most. Having his leadership and experience as the "field general" (catcher) has left a void for the whole team (especially young pitchers) No knock on Rupp, he is an outstanding player.

With that said, phase 2 of the season begins at the B12 tourn and phase 3 with the regionals.

As Tom Holiday said after Arkansas had beat us in the first game of the "05" regional, "We're bleedin' but we are not dead yet." We know what the '05 team did thereafter.
