AM 610 in Houston

Some joker on 610 in Houston just said that Texas lacks "coach presence" to win it all. You've got to love when these guys completely fabricate terms to stir the pot.

Today we salute you, Mr. Unathletic Sports Talk Radio Guy. You know everything there is to know about the world of sports, except how to play them (No Coordination). You talk sports for 8 hours a day, which is 7 hours and 45 minutes more than anyone listens (Is Anybody Out There?). Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. Those who can't do or teach, talk ( I'm Pretty Good At Talking!). So crack open an ice cold Bud Light Mr. Unathletic Supporter. You may never make the company softball team, but you'll always be a hit with us (Mr. Unathletic Sports Talk Radio Guy!).

Your problem is that you are listening to 610- why on earth would you do that.

1560 the game blows doors off 610. John and Lance in the Morning, work in Richard justice- turn it off when Ken Hoffman comes on from 12-2:00 and then Sean the Cablinasian and John Harris are awesome.

Seriously, there is no good reason to listen to 610 talk. Only to listen to the horns or rockets.

I like Charlie Pallillo.

I don't attach any importance to what any caller says on any sports talk show, so I don't see where discriminating between 610 versus 1560 versus 790 versus whomever makes any difference at all.

Charlie is fairly articulate for sportstalk but he has no lost love for the Horns. Not aggyish, but its always something. Last week, he was making fun of us because Tennessee "beat" us to trademarking "UT Sports" making us settle on "Texas Sports." Thats squinting your eyes to see something.

Oh, there's no doubt he's constantly poking fun at UT and its fans. He's the worst announcer in Houston about bringing up UT's disinterest in basketball and fails to give credit when its due.

He also likes to keep his options open on controversial decisions, so he can nay say it in hind sight, or applaud it if the decision works out for the best.

But he does know his sports. And he loves college basketball. He'll bring it up even when he knows his audience doesn't give a rat's *** about it, which is as big a reason to listen to him for me as anything else.

I like Charlie....I called him once and said he had to get over his "orange envy" (he's a Syracuse guy) and reminded him it was most likely Texas alums and A&M alums that pay the bills in this town.

He laughed and told me I had a good point.

OK.... sorry if I'm a little late on this one...
(my job has me thinkin' differently)

so Lance got back with John on 1560?

It's been a few months.

As far as ratings, my understanding is that the station does not subscribe to Arbitron, so the truth may be hard to find.
