AUSTIN, Texas -- The top-ranked Texas Longhorns baseball team will host its annual Fan Appreciation Day and Alumni Game at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Saturday, January 30. Gates open at 9 a.m.

Festivities include a game between current Longhorns and an alumni squad, a player autograph session and a photo opportunity with Bevo. Fans are encouraged to bring their baseball gloves as they will have an opportunity to play catch on the FieldTurf at UFCU Disch-Falk Field prior to the Longhorns taking the field.

A limited number of fans will receive UFCU logo baseballs and foam fingers and a limited supply of free hot dogs and sodas will be available.

Admission to the event is free and there will be no charge for parking lots surrounding UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

Among the players expected to play for the alumni team are major leaguers Huston Street, Drew Stubbs, Taylor Teagarden and Curtis Thigpen. Others slated to play include Adrian Alaniz, Brandon Belt, Randy Boone, Robby Hudson, Carson Kainer, Joseph Krebs, Kyle McCulloch, James Russell, Kyle Russell, Juston Street and Kyle Walker. Coaches for the alumni squad include Burt Hooton, Brooks Kieschnick, Greg Swindell and Jose Tolentino.

The Longhorns are coming off the program’s fourth Big 12 Tournament Championship, 11th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and a College World Series runner-up finish. Texas returns five starters on offense along with all four starting pitchers from a staff that ranked second in the nation in ERA last season.

The Horns open the season Feb. 19 when they host New Mexico for a weekend series.

Eddie Clements keeps talking about this being tomorrow. Guess I'll check the Texas Site but was curious if he just got hit on the head by Sam this morning or if the 30th is correct?

Most of the bigger names will be out of the game by then, so people not interested in watching recent grads playing against the varsity can go ahead and get in line.

In the past - I thought it was only the varsity that did the official autographs, not alumni. To get alumni's autographs you have to go hang out by the dugout or their locker room usually

Ah, I love the smell of Red Dog in the morning... okay, it's not even on the mound. But, I'm getting on a roll. It's almost college baseball season!
