And Mr. and Mrs. NebLHAB no longer have to drive all the way from Papillion, NE (13 hours and 835 miles) to play in that band.

Instead, they'll have to drive only 6.53 miles.

My biggest regret about dropping LHB before my first semester to go through Rush is that I don't get to do Alumni Band.

Although I probably could fake my way through most of it!

Marley: Yup, and thanks.

Tall: What did you play and what years?

Where is LHBRulesHalftime?

We're registered, ready and in regular contact w D. There are few life experiences to equal stepping out onto the field at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium to the approval and roar of the crowd.

For those curious, "Baton Guy" is Don Hart. Drum Major around 1964. He's the last Aerial DMs left as Dick Robinson broke his thumb too many times catching that kinetic energy weapon on its descent.

Beat the HELL outta UNM!

NebLHB
Can't wait
Nothing like it
well maybe EXcept having you to show up at away games and bowls and playing for us as we gather before a game.
something very personal about that

BTW what does the band play after a first down?

6721 Glad to hear y'all enjoy LHAB's "act like college students once a year" gig. It's fun and we'll keep doing it as long as we can OR until they start expecting us to do that side stepping crap for a halftime show.

We didn't have a name for what LHB plays after First Downs. We'd just get the hand sign for Taps then watch the Drum Major or director for us to hold or continue. You could call it "Taps and Hold". By now they probably HAVE a name for it, but it's so regularized it probably doesn't NEED a name. After our D gets a 3rd Down stop, LHB plays "Strong Eyes".

"something very personal about that" Thank you. I can't tell you how much we appreciate hearing those words. We'll keep it up until folks stop enjoying it or we start embarassing ourselves. W just two of us playing, embarassing ourselves is ALWAYS a possibility.

Howdy back attcha Worsterman.

Thanks. We WILL have fun. The RUSH never goes away from stepping onto that stadium turf, playing in the stands and generally acting like we're still college students.

BTW, it's true for time, temp, humidity and wind direction. ou STILL SUCKS!

NebLHAB- I play trombone and was in from 98-02. Actually spanned 3 directors. Was happy after the season with Carnahan as I knew he was pointing the band back in the right direction.

And they were calling it "Taps and hold" while I was in the band.

Tall: You marching Saturday? Look me up in The Bubble. I'll have one of those 60's era Silver Conns.
Paula Crider: 95-99
Kevin Sedatole: 99-2001
Rob Carnochan: 2001 - present
THAT took some digging and I agree w you Rob got LHB pointed back in the right direction.

Out of curiosity, how does your generation and current generation of LHB view DiNino?

m/

You didn't ask me and I was not part of the LHB, but I had a very favorable view of the late Vincent R. DeNino and The Showband of the Southwest!

Worsterman:
Not wishing to come across as TOO picky, DiNino would probably FROWN on your use of the word "late" in your "the late Vincent R. DeNino". He looked pretty good Saturday evening directing pre-game Eyes and answered my email Mon AM. Next time we meet him for lunch at The Flying Saucer, I'll be polite and not mention this.

m/

PS: When you meet him for lunch, there's NEVER a shortage of stories.

Neb - your not being too picky... I am embarassed - not sure why, but I honestly thought he had passed away. Yes, please have the decency at lunch not to tell him that WorsterMan, an ignorant, lazy and uniformed Internet poster, thought he had passed away

I would love to hear some of those old war stories sometime.....

Obviously not paying attention, as he was at the game last Saturday and directed the Eyes of Texas in pregame!

We were taught that Dr. D built the band into what it is, and we have him to thank for many of the good things. I've always thought the world of him because I love the band and what it stands for. I think the general population at least respects him, and most of us who come back each year for alumni day know how much he impacted things and love him for it. When I've had the chance, I've thanked him personally. I try to get a photo with him every couple of years too.

I'll definitely be marching. I'll be wearing orange at rehearsal

I was not at the game on Sat. but I watched on TV. The last 4-5 years, unfortunately, I only get to one home game per season. I just had not been to a game in recent years where I saw him or heard his name... mistakenly I thought he passed away.

VRD & LHB are a part of the greatness of The University of Texas

Tell you what Neb, I'll try to remember to wear my pirate bandana. That should make me easy to spot at rehearsal, and get a jump on the holiday in 2 weeks.
