the gf hauled home some POS bookshelf that a friend was shitcanning..."will can fix it and it will be great in the garage".

Anywho...I go to put this thing back together solid today. Basically glue the particle board where it matters, oversize drill and upsize the ****** dowel pins, and screw together.

I go to Home Depot looking for 5/16 dowel pins, these guys:

Much to my pants crapping, the orange bigbox ************* no longer carry dowel pins. Hardware aisle guys says guys ask for them all the time. I **** you not. Dowels? sure, they've go those...in softwood douglas fir. Not oak.

I don't remember Home Depot ever carrying anything but the balsa wood ones.

yeah, in the hardware dept.

they had them as long as I can remember.

go to Ikea and they'll have them, of course you have to go to Ikea to get them

If you have a Rockler store somewhere near you, you'll find every size of dowel pin you could want. Woodcraft, also.
