All-Inclusive Resorts

My fiance and I are trying to plan our Honeymoon for June and needed some advice. We would like to go to the Caribbean but not sure what island. It looked like Jamaica seemed to have resorts that worked more in our range but I'd prefer another island. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Keep in mind that the Caribbean in the summer is hot/humid as hell and is in the hurricane belt..Might be better off looking at Hawaii.

I stayed at a Sandals resort in the Bahamas a few years ago and hated it. The massive, all-inclusive resort just isn't my thing. Definitely had an older crowd with a Whiskey Tango feel to it.

I went to Jamaica last year and stayed at Goldeneye, which is a much smaller and secluded all-inclusive. Awesome accomodation, pretty decent food and good activities. It's worth checking into.

I've heard some good things about the One and Only resorts, as well as Grand Lido Negril. I believe they are a bit nicer than Sandals, but I'm certainly not speaking from experience.

We honeymooned in Barbados and loved it. Have been to several other islands since, but prefer Barbados. It's charming, fairly quiet, beautiful, and the locals were very friendly. If you're looking for lots of nightlife, then there are better choices.

Regarding all-inclusive, that's ok with a lot of people, but it isn't my preference. An important part of the traveling experience for me is getting out and enjoying lots of local activities and restaurants. With an all-inclusive you'll tend to stick closer to the resort and will probably miss out on a lot of the local color. At least that's been my experience.

Just got married at Dreams in Puerto Vallarta and highly recommend it. A friend went to Couples in Negril, Jamaica for his honeymoon and thought it was fantastic.
