CJ loads bases in top of first with one out on two singles and a walk but gets a double play to hold Tigers scoreless through first 1/2 inning.

CJ struggled in second again surrendering two hits but battled to get three outs and not surrender a run.

Rangers have now plated two in bottom of second off Verlander on single by Napoli, RBI triple by Murphy and RBI single by Kinsler.

2-0 Texas through two full.

Lead off walk for Tigers in third but CJ gets strike out and induces third to second to first double play to get out of inning.

Nelson Cruz leads off fourth with solo shot to increase lead to 3-0.

Verlander has thrown a ton of pitches.

Rain really starting to fall in Arlington.

CJ surrenders a leadoff double to start fifth.

We really need the rain here in Arlington.

But I'd like to see a short delay so Wilson can keep going as long as he can get the job done. If he turns a lead over to the bullpen in the seventh, I'll feel pretty good about the chances of a W.

CJ gets ground out after 41 minute rain delay but then another double plates run. Tigers still batting in fifth with one down and runner on second.
 
CJ imploding. Two walks and a wild pitch makes it 3-2 runners on second and third still just one out.

After groundout to pitcher, intentional walk reloads bases.

And now another rain delay with two outs and bases loaded.

Rangers lead 3-2 in top of fifth.
 
And they get it, Gonzalez gets Avila to ground out to second baseman.

4.5 in books and Rangers lead 3-2. Verlander done so Rangers with advantage as Ogando will now pitch in relief beginning in sixth.

Ogando on in the sixth gives up 2 out walk but then gets big K to end inning. 5.5 done and Rangers lead 3-2, need to get some runs.

Darren Oliver on to pitch the 8th.

Gets fly out and a K and now Adams on to pitch.

Washington using his full staff tonight trying to get to Neftali in the nnth. One out to go.
 
Adams gets K to end inning. Starting to rain again but they play on in the drizzle. Rangers could use an insurance run or five here in bottom of 8th.

Rangers go quickly and quietly in the 8th, they have gotten to Feliz with the lead in the ninth which has been goal all night and he is in to try and get the save.

Strike Three swinging

Rangers win 3-2.

5 plus hours of tension filled baseball and Rangers lead the series 1-0.

Yes!!! After lead off bunt single, Feliz strikes out the side and Rangers take Game 1! Great ending to an otherwise crappy sports day.
 
i hope the magic keeps coming and we get back to the WS. Too bad Lee wont be there, of course he could buy a ticket.
 
it couldn't have worked out much better for the Rangers. CJ and Verlander both pitch shorter than normal outings, but we win. will be interesting to see if Verlander pitches game 4 or game 5.

I like our situation with relief pitching. Ogando pitched only two innings, so he could be available for maybe an inning today.

I hope the bats come around today. I thought once we were done with Verlander, we would get a bunch of hits and put the game away.

I felt like we were on the verge of blowing up Verlander, anyway. I noticed he only had 98 mph, so even he is feeling the effects of a full season.
 
The Dallas Morning News points out that Ogando has now won every game the Rangers have won against the Tigers this season. I hope there is a clone or two on the roster.
