Alamo Bowl: Texas v. Utah

Utah is in Pac 12 title game doesn't that put them into Rose Bowl if USC is in playoff. And if Utah happens to win that game then they are definitely in Rose Bowl. So I am not sure how that matchup is possible.

I mean this in the best way, of course, but if you can figure this out, what is with the dolts at Longhorns Daily News?

Just spitballing here, but I think they are figuring a USC win over Utah leads to a USC appearance the CFP in the Peach/Fiesta Bowl with Georgia, TCU, and Michigan. After presumably losing the PAC 12 Championship game to USC, Utah would fall to 9-4 behind a 10-2 Washington Husky team on overall record. Rose Bowl selects Washington and Utah slips to the Alamo. Utah could beat USC and throw a wrench in it all, but LR looks to have the Trojans steamrolling at the right time and Utah is in the way. I probably missed something, so somebody help me out . . .

Jeez, if you can figure that out, what's with FWHORN?

IMHO

I think we could smash Utah.

Washington, and their QB who shreds zone defenses for fun, would be a more dangerous PAC opponent for us.

:utah:…………..:uw:

JQJ has really become their "Roschon" this year. He's had a good string of runs late in the season. I'm a little peeved that we can't seem to get any love from the Cotton Bowl, while UTSA is.

Man, tickets already high imo. They’ll only go up once announced. Wish I could be confident we were going.

Plenty available starting at $70 on the Alamo Bowl website.

Interesting side note, for $400 you can buy a spot for your kid (grandkid) to retrieve either the first or second half kickoff tee. For $1,250 you and three others can be on the field for pregame warmups then stand in/by the tunnel with the team as they run onto the field to start the game.

Of course you’re correct Vol but I can barely see players from my NEZ seats. I wouldn’t see a thing from the 300 section of Alamo. Honestly though if seats were included I’d love to do the ‘on the field ‘ thing. Getting on DKR field has been a bucket list for me for ummmm, maybe 50 years.

Not really a knock on you but tired of all the usc hype...
Steamrolling??
They play in a weak conference and have beaten two very overrated teams ...UCLA barely and ND pretty solidly after barely defeating two very poor or average teams in the two prior weeks...and not playing two of the better teams in the conference this year.
Color me unimpressed.
And no this has nothing to do with hating Lincoln Riley or his methods or his face or his portal buddies or being jealous of Caleb Williams or what LC did at ou or all the hype and praise he is getting or anything else....
:)

How many former Longhorns on that Utah team? Rising plus 8-9?
The only ones I am aware are qb Cam Rising and LQ Jackson. We did lose the big edge rusher Van Filinger and commit Ty Jordan RB as former commits. Sadly Ty was tragically murdered last season.

There were a limited number of VIP field seats available yesterday but when I went to post the link they are sold out today. Sorry!

Not excited about facing a healthy Caleb Williams. I remember last time we faced him all too well.
Bring him on. We have a much better/quicker/tougher swarming D than we had in the last meeting. Plus, no “ole” players like Foster. (That is, if we even have that matchup.)
