Alabama has BBQ pork

Half-time Stats that might surprise you based on the score:

Ark first down 14 vs 8 for Alabama
Ark 260 yards vs 224 for Alabama

However:

Ark 2 turnovers for Alabama TD's - no turnovers for Alabama
Ark 2 penalties (1 gave Alabama back the ball for another TD; 1 stopped our drive at mid-field) - no penalties for Alabama - none, nada, zippo!

Pretty is as pretty does. Arkansas is awful. Mississippi State is terrible. Ole Mis is mediocre.

Yet, the SEC is great? Half the teams suck.

5 teams in the Top 10

8 will make bowls, again.

2 will be BCS, again.

1 will win a NC, again.

Yeah, Deadhorse, "half the teams suck" and I also seem to be missing what the hype is all about.

Vandy, Kentucky, Tennessee and South Carolina are also terrible. Although, Vandy might be respectable but who knows? (Please don't get on here and talk up TN. They lost to a bad UCLA team with a 3rd string QB who went on to get blasted by BYU.)

So, three teams in the West and four teams in the East are awful to mediocre. None of those teams would beat Texas Tech or Colorado.

Yes, half the SEC is terrible and the better half of the conference has some terrible offenses.

After you get past those 5 in the Top Ten, who's the 6th best SEC team? Tennessee? There might be 5 in the top ten but there isn't another SEC team in the top 25. CU might (probably shouldn't) get ranked this week and then the Big 12 would have 6 in the top 25 with 3 in the top 10. That's about as impressive considering the drop off to the 6th best SEC team.

Remember how we heard about the great SEC defenses last week after the 3-2 Auburn/State game?

Today Georgia Tech ran for 437 yards on Mississippi State. Tech's starting QB only attempted 7 passes.

Squall that is the way it works around here.

There is the mandatory "Such and such SEC team is doing whatever" thread, despite the regular posters "I don't care about the SEC" stance .

The thread quickly moves from discussing a specific SEC team or SEC game to "The SEC sucks". At which point a poster with ties to an SEC school points out that SEC does not suck.

Next, is the funny part. All of the BIG 12 apologists, and those with SEC penis envy, all pile on and say "We don't care about the SEC!! Go away! Go chant SEC, SEC, SEC elsewhere! We don't care!!!". All of this despite
the fact that it is always a Horn fan that starts with the comparisons and litters the front page with SEC updates.

Squall, you've been here for almost 8 years. You've earned the right to talk. Whocares has been here 6 months.

There's nothing wrong with conference pride but some of the SEC folks take it way, way too far.

I've lurked or posted here under various ridiculous names for the better part of three years.
Two things never change:

1) Vince Young is a God and Texas should always be the favorites in any game, on any date, in any year, solely based on what Vince Young did in 2005

2) The SEC is always the recipient of too much respect and the first time an SEC fan defends their conference, despite who started the thread or what has been said by Horn fans, it is ALWAYS
the SEC fans fault that the discussion is taking place.

can we quit throwing out the silly blanket statements??

just like how i have to defend Texas when people say, "their fans are make as much noise as a tea party. they stand as much too"

we sit here on message boards and get the psychological effect of the people we interact with represent the majority when in fact it represents a MAX of 10% of the fanbase. (i base this number of sites like orangebloods and Bamaonline that list how many people belong to the site and then divide the stadium capacity by that number - therefore 10% is generous)

but back to the original post, Bama needs to improve their pass defense if they hope to really compete with the SEC this year.
