Airport Extreme compatible with iBook G3?

I am having issues installing my airport extreme wireless card in an apple G3 iBook. I put it in, and my computer won't turn back on. The computer will turn on again if I take the airport card out, but not with it in. Are airport extreme wireless cards not compatible with the G3 version?

What could be causing it to not turn on.....?

They aren't compatible. In fact, I'm surprised it fit perfectly in there. You need an older airport card.

Yeah, I just finally found it on the apple help page deal...

That ******* pisses me off, as it didn't say anything about that when I was buying it. I even checked to make sure. But no.

Oh well. Blah.
