Aggy Top 44 List

Man! Our recruits took a real beating on Texags top 44.
Cayleb Jones still 4, but ......

Thomas Johnson dropped from 10 to 15

Riser from 13 to 17

Ridgeway is 22 - don't know where he was last week

Jinkens is all the way down to 29 - pretty sure he was way higher when they thought he would commit there.

Orlando Thomas dropped from 27 to 34.

((Hughes & Boyett are 36 & 37 but I don't know where they were last week.)

I realize that every site shows some homerism to an extent but dropping those guys that far while no games are even being played is kinda ridiculous.

Not too bad, its to be expected.

Ridgeway wasn't even on the list so that is a big jump. Boyette is a huge drop from 21, and Hughes is a slight gain from 41.

Well it's early in the evaluation period and Luicci certainly has a right to change his mind as new prospects come on the radar screen and more information is coming available on listed prospects. The guys who make the lists know their audience. They want to seem credible, but if they have several prospects rated about the same, it would make sense to arrange their rank to make things look good to the avid fans who subscribe.

And they will all go up on the lists of services that cater to Texas fans.

Pay services cater to a fan base and they make more money when that fan base gets excited. So should anyone really be shocked if they adjust to take into account commitments to rivals.

For the most part, the top 10 in the state is starting to gel across all the different "recruiting services".

The top 5 is always, in some order:

Mario Edwards
Caleb Jones
Johnathan Gray
Trey Williams
Malcolm Brown

Thats your National Top 50 players.

After that, you get a wide variety of opinion. I'd argue that numbers 6-20 are fairly interchangeable. People will start to separate themselves once the camps start up in full force.

Here is what I believe to be true:

Derek David is a stud ILB but is going to have to hump it to qualify. A fully qualified Derek David is probably a borderline National Top 50.

Javonte McGee is probably a National 100 player, and should land somewhere in the 6-10 range in the state.

Not a huge fan of any of the WRs other than Jones. There are usually 4-5 4-star WRs in Texas. Jones is a 4/5 star. Who are the other 3-4? The Skyline kid? Wheeler? Eh, not really one standing out to me ahead of the others.

The interior piece of the OL is stronger than the OTs, in my opinion.

TE is a big basket of blah.

QB (in state) seems to be a battle between Knight and the Klein FOrest kid. If he was fully healthy, I think he'd be pushing for a spot in the National 100.

Link Eric???

But to answer your question, no that's not what I meant. I meant when looch was hoping he'd be an aggy & the steep drop immediately after he found out otherwise.

various "recruiting services" published that Jinkens did not have a "commitable offer" from Sherman after a certain period in time. Gerry Hamilton was one example.

Certain other "recruiting services" are claiming Jinkens tried to commit to Sherman, but Sherman said (paraphrasing) "nope, you had your chance but we've gained some other commitments while you were deciding so I can not take your commitment".

I wonder if it is true.

hmmm, so Aggy is in a position to turn down players on Rivals250 Watch list and ESPN150 Watch List? A program that did not have 1 player in the top 150 in the 2011 recruiting class?

Interesting.

It's not like thier recruiting class is heavy with LBs either.

I buy into the idea that in some form or fashion, the Shermanator gave Jinkens some time to think about things, but Jinkens took too long in Sherm's estimation, other linebackers committed, and the Shermalounger said thanks but no thanks when Jinkens got back to him.

That being said, passing on Jinkens' talent isn't the brightest decision ag's made, and thank you agricultural...Jinkens will look better in burnt orange anyway. As for how our commitments stack up on ag's top 44?...consider the source.

Lol.. Ag eric at it again - ags still looking @ lb's & confirmed word is Jenk didn't meld with the ags.

Considering it's Aggyeric, would u have expected anything near provable truth lol?

Hey, I think Eric is usually pretty credible.
I was just being a smart *** because I had seen the same thing said on texags several times, but had never really seen it anywhere else.

actually, we have (at least) 3 LBs...Richardson, Richmond, and Taylor. Taylor is going to be a rush OLB. I would be shocked if one of Green/Smith did not end up at LB.

Cole, Santos, and a kid from Louisiana are all in play. Good chance we get 2 of those 3.

Ah, the old "it's been reported everywhere but..." then we're given some gratuitous link that "isn't a pay site" (thanks for looking out for us agroids) & what it provides doesn't actually say what aggy said it did. And apparently they don't teach cut-n-paste at the agrodite school of computer stuff.

So as usual, we'll have to just take aggys word for it about Jinkins.

Bundy and Prop Joe are alright in my book.

It's a good book, you should all read it. I hope to have it come out in audio soon.
