Aggy recruiting and SEC

If Aggy goes to the SEC I think it will improve their recruiting tremendously. Every conference game will be a game of state pride, my state against those foreigners. The vast majority of Texans will root for Aggy to beat those Louisiana, Arkansas or Alabama outsiders. Just like Texas/OU.

Even if they get a slight recruiting boost initially, it won't last. Recruiting is largely influenced by wins/losses, championships, academics, NFL exposure, etc... In the SEC west there's a greater probability they will be relegated to Miss State or Kentucky status than having football success. Personally, my biggest concern is losing a couple elite players a year to SEC powerhouses if a&m gives the a larger recruiting footprint in Texas.

The last thing I want to see is LSU, Bama, Florida, Georgia, Auburn or any other SEC team playing an away game in the state of Texas every year. Opens doors that need to be kept shut.

If A&M is playing Vandy or Tennessee or Miss State, who am I supposed to root for?

Or is it like a tree falling in a forest when nobody is there?

Win/loss determines caliber of recruits. Florida being in the SEC didn't hurt Miami or FSU. Georgia in the SEC hasn't really impacted Georgia Tech. I'd argue the same for S. Carolina and Clemson.

My personal opinions:

A&M's future could not be bleeker!

Hired in 2007, Sherman's team was ranked a terrible #56 by Sagarin after last season'

The Sherman recruiting classes of 2010 signed in February; and now 2011, may make this #56 ranking even worse.

Since Sherman's hire in 2007, we have never committed and signed a single four or five star high school senior for Quarterback, either defensive end, 3 linebacker positions, either 2 corner positions and either 2 safety positions?

NEVER!

A&M loses big in the big 12, Pac 16, or sec until Sherman and his terrible recruiting are gone forever!

Aggy would benefit in SEC recruiting as much as Iowa State benefited in Texas recruiting after they entered the Big 12.

I'm saying that not competing with UT, Baylor and Texas Tech takes Aggy off the bottom rung in the state. They may be mediocre in the SEC but after a period of time, people will see it more as Texas vs. that other state and begin to root for Aggy. And if Aggy upsets those ignorant neighbors Arkansas or Louisiana, it's a victory for Texas rather than an inter-family squabble. I'm saying Texans without a dog in the fight will think that is a good thing, whereas, UT over UCLA, not as much because what do the average Texans know or care about UCLA or Stanford.

If TAMU goes to the SEC, I could see the recruiting pick up a little bit. The question is how much. I would imagine Texas continues to rule the in-state recruiting. Can TAMU become the clear #2? Right now we are sharing the Mack Brown leftovers with OU/LSU? Probably not until we fire Sherman.

My personal opinions:

Bundy, Sherman's recruiting classes rank around #25 every year, only because he brings in a large quantity of players, but with little quality each year! _____If Sherman brought in quality, we'd rank in the top 5.

It only takes 17 players per year x 5 years to equal 85 players.

Sherman evaluated and signed 24 in '08, 28 more in '09, and 26 in '10, a couple of transfers and then has 7 three star players for '11 committed.

Shermans total players in 4 recruiting classes is 87 players with almost no quality players? Less a couple of grade and medical losses.

Quality four and five star players committed and signed in 4 recruiting classes since Sherman was hired:

Mike Sherman 17
Mac Brown 47
Bob Stoops 43
Les Miles 44
Nick Saban 56
Urban Meyer 50

If Sherman was signing 17-20 players each year with lots of quality 4*/5* players, we'd win>

Instead Sherman is simply incapable of recruiting most quality players, so we get 24, 28, 26 and 7 mostly low quality players, but big quantity ranked 23-25, ie 2 and 3 star players, and lose?

It's no secret, Sherman must go, and a coach proven capable of recruiting quality players hired, or we go 3-9 every year, pac 16 or sec?

RC's overall winning percentage in the big 12 was .603 and Shermans is .312, both hung around for years and years way way too long! ____Both should be removed now!

My personal opinions:

The number of quality four and five star players committed and signed by tech, nebraska, and okie lite since Sherman was hired in 2007 is:

Leach 13
Pelini 16
Gundy 16

Leach has beaten us like a drum every year since '93 in Lubbock, which should have been RC's last year.

Pelini would completely out coach us today.

Gundy is Gundy?

Tech, nebraska and okie lite, all three have now passed Sherman in recruiting quality four and five star players, already this year!

aggy gets nothing out of the SEC move because as is anything in life, it is what you make of it yourself. We have all seen aggy screw the pooch in its decision making prowess. They simply can't help themselves - they're just a moron factory run by morons.

I love all the aggy logic being tossed around as if they have some repertoire for notable accomplishments and achievements. That dog simply don't hunt.

No, alas history shows all too well that aggy is aggy's biggest enemy. Texas just gets all the credit for keeping the aggyman down simply because aggy obliges us with it.

Aggy really doesn't have a choice if they really & sincerely do wish to "grow up" finally. They have to get out from Big Brother's shadow if they ever want to have true respectability amongst the collegiate greats and the media. The problem they have to mitigate is should they indeed separate and cut the umbilical cord, will they survive the inevitable "shooting of their own foot" scenarios that lie in wait?

In the meantime, only aggy sits, waits and wonders...

My personal opinions:

A&M must hire a head coach that can commit and sign a minimum of 13 quality four and five star players his first year and every year; and then coach them!

Since Sherman was hired in 2007, the number of quality four and five star players committed through today is:

Mac Brown 62
Bob Stoops 51
Les Miles 51
Bo Pelini 20
Mike Gundy 18
Tommy Tubberville 18
Mike Sherman 17

Look how far A&M has dropped in recruiting and coaching under Sherman?

RC couldn't sign 13 four and five star players per year and coach them; and he and the wreckin crew had only a .603 winning percentage against other big 12 teams!

Mike Sherman can't sign 13 four and five star players per year and coach them; and he has only a .312 winning percentage against big 12 teams.

Sherman and his supporters like RC, must go for A&M to ever win again!
