Aggies v. BYU, AGAIN??!!

The committee should be embarassed that A&M is playing BYU in an 8-9 matchup for the second straight year. I wonder whether they realized it. I can count at least 3 ways that this could have been fixed by switching around the 8-9 matchups. There's no excuse for that kind of thing with all the time they have to put the bracket together.

Saw an interview with the Sellection Chairman. He said that the rematch was a factor considered but other sellection criteria were more important. I agree, it just seems that they could have found a way to avoid this.

Swapping Siena for Texas A&M leads to two MVC teams in the same sub-region.

Swapping Texas A&M for Tennessee leads to a Big 12 matchup.

Swapping Texas A&M for Butler leads to an LSU-A&M rematch.

BYU could only switch with LSU among 8's because of their Thursday-Saturday restirction, which again leads to an A&M-LSU rematch.

Going two jumps you could swap A&M with Siena, and move Northern Iowa out with a swap to another 12. Wisconsin wouldnt work because of conference conflict, neither would Arizona. Swapping Northern Iowa and Western Kentucky would have worked I think. This requires the committee to go into mutliple decisions being made rather than just saying F-it, and I dont know if they have time to do that or not (apparently not).

8's and 9's are interchangeable. The simplest thing would have been to switch Aggy and Siena. Or switch Aggy and Ok State. Just call BYU a 9 and Tennessee an 8 if you want to keep Ok State above Aggy on the line.

Seriously, when I see aggy's beloved corps marching around, grabbing their nuts and otherwise pretending to be soldiers, it always reminds me of Paxton's Pvt. Hudson character from Aliens. As one online service described the role: Private Hudson is portrayed as an over-confident, self-assured, and blithe character who constantly brags about his and his team's abilities.

OK, BYU is one of maybe 3 teams that I would actually pull for a&m to win, when they play that team.
