Let's see, since Aggies would be in other side, the only way we could play them again is BOTH winning our brackets. And with the quality of teams in the CWS this year, don't see that happening. So basically, if Aggy makes it and gets further in their bracket than us, it would just add much more misery to see them win combined with our losses (under that scenario) in Omaha. Ofcourse, we all know in reality we're gonna win this whole damn thing.
And probably out of the loser's bracket so I can suffer more intense stress.
Unless we could get an all-Texas final which would be awesome, we have absolutely nothing to gain from Aggies being there, and much more possibility of misery. I hope FSU spanks them again and they pay for holding back their ace, just like they pulled that bush-league hidden-ball trick with us. Screw Aggy, they must suffer.
I worked with way too many aggys from 1991 through 1997, so yes, definitely 'Noles. These aggys were pompous a-holes. I'm still in the healing process. I'd love to say I want another Big XII and Texas team representing at the CWS, but not this school.
I'm not pulling for aggy but I think they take this 3rd game since they will have their #2 guy pitching. I've always thought that FSU was the weakest national seed.
I hope the aggys get beat as bad today as they did yesterday. When we played Bama for the national title, I was aware of an office where a bunch of aggys worked. They decorated the office in Bama stuff and they all wore Bama gear. Ever since, I won't even root for aggy in a poo contest.
Although I do think that it would be fun to beat them down two straight for the CWS national title.
The Noles were very appreciative of the Texas players and fans when we got sent there for a Super in, what year was it ... '02? They even created a webpage just to laud the Horns and fans.
The only time I ever pull for aggy is when they play ousux (our real rival) ... aggy hatred of all things Longhorn is the reason I would never wish well for aggy.
I know 90% of all fans at the other Big 12-2 schools hate us as well but they're not as obnoxious/vocal about it.
Count me on the other side of this argument but for a reason other than "we're all Texans.". If aggy makes it so be it. Maybe it will awaken our slumbering non-football athletic administrators to realize that aggy is closing the gap in many sports and leaving us behind in several others. They have the national championships over the past 4 years that we want and used to compete for. Let them get to Omaha. Our baseball team has nothing to to fear or prove but our overall sports programs (namely women's programs) are severly underperforming. It is sad to say but we may need aggy to make Omaha to light a fire under the entire athletic program.
LakeErie is correct about everything other than wanting aggy make the CWS. f aggy and their ilk.
However, until someone with clout (i.e. big bucks contributor) complains (hints at withdrawing support) about the embarrassment of several programs who have not only slipped behind aggy but Baylor as well, nothing is going to happen.
Can anyone think of a really good reason to argue against LakeErie's logic ?? Anyone ?? Anyone ??
Since the beginning of time until 5 years ago, we were mudstomping aggy in National Championships for most of our sports. In the last 5 years, meh . . .
ATM reaching Omaha and kicking the Longhorns' asses will not have one ounce of influence with Belmont. F ATM. I am hopeful, but not confident, that FSU will knock them out.
The dipshits in Belmont care nothing about ATM's having surpassed Texas as the leading collegiate athletic department in the state, and let's face it, that is what they have done, except in one category: profit. Presently, Texas has clearly superior teams in two sports: men's swimming and volleyball. That is pitiful. Texas has also abdicated its dominance in a couple of sports to Baylor of all schools.
With UT"s financial resources, facilities, academics, HS talent pool and location, Texas should be nationally competitive, as in top 10, in every sport and certainly should be dominant in conference. If Dodds and Plonsky really gave a ****, we'd have about 5 new coaches on campus next year. Won't happen.
If Dodds and Plonsky continue to allow sports which once dominated conference to diminish, the almighty profit might also erode. Who in hell wants to watch team after team beaten by ATM and Baylor and other lesser schools on the Longhorn Network?
